BUILDINGS, MAINTENANCE & REFURBISHMENT

Zentia launches canopies and baffles A

A market-leading range of mineral ceiling canopies and baffles has been launched by UK manufacturer Zentia.

The additions to Zentia’s portfolio of ceiling solutions will give

specifiers further design flexibility on projects. The canopies and baffles are also quick and easy to install and are therefore ideal for contractors working on new-build or refurbishment projects. Both the canopies and baffles offer exceptional acoustics, with

double-sided sound absorption, making them the product of choice for areas with high footfall and user volume. The canopies can also be used as wall absorbers, adding style and sound absorption performance to interior walls in open plan, high traffic areas like airport lobbies and educational settings. In these instances, they are easily installed onto walls with spiral anchors and L-type screws. Available in white as standard, both the canopies and baffles feature

80% light reflectance to help bounce natural light around a space and reduce the use of artificial light. Manufactured with an 85% recycled glass fibre core and a scrimmed,

laminated finish for ease of cleaning to maintain hygiene standards, they also feature 90% relative humidity resistance, maintaining their shape and structure in warm, humid environments. For contractors, both are supremely simple and speedy to install, the

baffles featuring an integrated suspension anchor and the canopies a spiral anchor hanging kit. Both perform to fire safety standard EEA Euroclass A2-s2,d0 EN 13501-1. Zentia sales and marketing director Graham Taylor said: “We are

delighted to now be able to introduce the new canopies and baffles range to help secure our mineral tile offering to specifiers and contractors and give them ultimate design and installation flexibility.”

New sports hall? Our advice is to focus on the inside By Jason Lynock, Smart-Space Sales Director

I

t’s our honest belief that having a state-of-the-art sports facility

comes from the inside – which might sound strange when we’re the ones who supply the external building! It’s a bit controversial but at

Smart-Space we prioritise the Head of Sport and dispense with the architect and interior designers. We provide a hard- working, fit for purpose, big steel box to safely house the most important part of the facility - the flooring, equipment, changing rooms, refectory – whatever it is that you need inside the building. By putting the Head of Sport at

fitness class areas, additional changing rooms, shower blocks and kitchens. We bring in trusted suppliers of flooring and sports equipment which

works well if you are entrusting us with a turnkey build. If you simply need us to supply the building, we’ll happily share our contacts and make the necessary introductions. The latest generation of lightweight steel buildings meets all local

authority regulations and compares extremely well with a traditional build, faring particularly well in a cost and build-time comparison. Typically, you can look forward to a saving of at least 30% compared to that of a traditional building. And of course, in terms of timings, it’s far faster too. This is where the inside wins out – why spend your build budget on

the heart of the build we find that the passion for sport permeates every facet of the build process and filters through to the pupils. The people who use the building daily know what they want. They can tell you where storage should be located. They understand which sports take priority and which facilities will be most beneficial. They know what their ideal sports hall looks like - so we talk it through and do it together. For sports halls, we have found that a modular approach works well

the outside when it can be better invested in the interior? Our experience and approach means there is no QS, structural engineer or designer because we do all of that for you. The insulated steel roof regulates the building’s temperature and

there are some excellent, effective air-source heating systems that work well. Our industrial buildings can be finished in any colour or clad to suit the environment. Ultimately what is really important is that a school enjoys a solution

that focuses on the playing - the teams and the experience – that’s what a school sports hall is all about to us. We say that spending money on the inside is the basis of a successful sports hall – talk to us and we’ll share what we know.
