CONTENTS Dear Reader,

Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today. This month we take an in-depth look at the ways in which the built environment impacts on learning, with three features on the topic. In the first, we hear from Richard Mallinson, Associate Studio Director, and Chris Pickup, Studio Director, of architecture and design company Arcadis IBI Group, who examine the state of smart learning environments today and look ahead to what might be round the corner. In the second, Paul Jones, Director for UK & Ireland at B.E.G. – The Lighting Control Professionals, explains how classroom lighting can improve learning and save you energy, while in the third feature Trevor Gillman, CEO of specialist fitted furniture manufacturer David Bailey Furniture Systems, looks at the role of storage units and other furniture items in an education environment. We also have two features on parental engagement, the first from Simon Freeman, MD of Education at IRIS Software Group, who outlines his vision for improving collaboration between schools and parents; and the second from Tom Harbour, CEO, Learning with Parents, who calls for support for parents and carers at all levels of affluence to achieve maximum benefit for their children. Finally, as if that wasn’t enough, we also look ahead to Bett 2023, arriving in London next month.

Elsewhere we have all our regulars on hand

to offer insight and advice, while our View from the classroom feature this month features Clare Watson, Principal of Lees Brook Academy in Derby.

Remember, we love to hear from you, you can get in touch with us via Twitter @EdTodayMag, as well as by phone or ema

Enjoy the issue!
