CONTENTS Dear Reader,
Welcome to the latest issue of Education Today. We have a bumper issue for you this month which we hope you will enjoy in the run up to
Christmas, with three features looking at cultural education and its importance as a means to extending and enriching learning. In our first feature on the subject, we take a look at Leicester’s Spark Festival, which is set to return in February next year; in our second look at the topic, we were delighted to catch up with Will Crawford, guitarist, music educator, and founder of the ‘mindfulness through music’ wellbeing company, quietnote, who discusses his work with the Cheltenham Music Festival on their ‘Musicate Programme’; while in our third feature (and staying with Cheltenham Festivals) we hear from Pip Claridge, Learning & Participation Manager, Music & Jazz, and Michael Duffy, Head of Programming, Cheltenham Music Festival, from the organisation, who talk about their experience in music education and why it should be at the heart of primary education.
Elsewhere we have all our regulars on hand
to offer insight and advice, and a lovely View from the classroom from Kathryn Pennington, Headteacher at East Hunsbury Primary School. Remember, we love to hear from you, you can get in touch with us via Twitter @EdTodayMag, as well as by phone or email.
With all that then, and the end of 2022 upon us, it just remains to all of us here at Education Today to wish you, our readers, a restful (and well-deserved!) Christmas break and to look forward to a peaceful and prosperous 2023. Merry Christmas and enjoy the issue!
Enjoy the issue!
