Free tennis equipment and teacher training from the LTA

Free tennis equipment and teacher training is

being made available to primary schools across the UK thanks to a partnership between the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and Premier Education.

Tennis for Schools aims to give more children the opportunity to play tennis in their own school and entitles participating venues to £250 worth of free tennis equipment and teacher training with the LTA, as well as 50 per cent off the delivery of all new tennis delivery with Premier Education for the first six weeks.

Schools will receive curriculum-linked tennis themed lesson plans and videos by the LTA Youth Schools programme.

Tennis for Schools will help children learn the basics of the sport or nurture skills progression in those with existing tennis experience.

Tennis comes with a raft of health and cognitive benefits, from improved fitness, coordination and agility, to problem-solving, increased confidence and mental stimulation.

David Batch, chief executive at Premier Education, comments: “We know that it’s beneficial for children to encounter a wide and varied range of sports as part of their curricular PE and extracurricular activities, so this partnership is a chance for

schools to offer something new, enhance their provision or expand their offering.

“With spring and summer approaching, it’s the perfect time to encourage children to develop their tennis experience.”

Michelle Gray, schools and further education manager at the LTA, comments: “LTA Youth Schools is a free cross curricular programme designed specifically to support delivery of the curriculum and wider school outcomes. The flexible inclusive PE lessons focus on developing fundamental movement skills, physical literacy and character skills. In addition, the free online Teacher Training course has been written by teachers for teachers to help them deliver high quality PE lessons with a whole class in a small space.

“As our partnership with Premier Education enters its third year, we are delighted to continue to work with England’s largest provider of sport and physical activity to primary schools. Premier Education Activity Professionals deliver LTA Youth Schools ensuring young people are having a positive and enjoyable experience of tennis.”

The offer is available until 31 July 2023. Terms apply. To register or for more information visit
