CCL Facades appointed to Harrogate College rebuild
S
pecialist facade contractor, CCL Facades, has been awarded a contract to design and supply the curtain walling facade at Luminate Education Group’s new Harrogate College campus.
Delivered on behalf of main contractor, Caddick Construction, the appointment will see CCL Facades design, supply and install a 700m2
glazing package incorporating
thermally broken aluminium windows and specialist curtain walling, as well as manually operated and automated doors.
The project comprises the rebuild of Harrogate College’s 3,997sqm main campus and the installation of a green technology centre to enhance the further education offering for 16-18 year olds, as well as adult students in the town.
Due to be completed by summer 2026, the contract builds on CCL Facades’ education portfolio in the region following the completion of the new Pudsey Sixth Form college in Leeds. Also part of Luminate Education Group, the project saw CCL Facades complete the curtain walling facade on the building, which provided 600 new post-16 education places.
Tony Blake, Managing Director at CCL Facades, commented: “We’re proud to be appointed and be working alongside Caddick Construction on the new Harrogate College campus. Building on the success at Pudsey Sixth Form, this project is a fantastic opportunity to further strengthen our experience within the education sector and to deliver a high-quality, modern and energy-efficient facade for the Luminate Education Group. Our expertise in specialist curtain walling and glazing will ensure the new campus has a striking and sustainable exterior that will benefit both the students and staff for years to come.”
Steve Ford, Regional Managing Director at Caddick Construction Yorkshire and North East, said: “We’re pleased to be partnering once again with our colleagues at CCL Facades on another excellent project for Luminate Education Group. CCL Facades’ specialist expertise in high-quality, energy-efficient facade solutions made them the ideal choice for this vital element of the Harrogate College rebuild. We look forward to working together to deliver a first-class facility.”
ClassFlo® A
- Transforming School
Environments for Pupil Well-Being CF350, an advanced (MVHR)
ir Vent Technology’s ClassFlo®
system, meets BB101, BB93 Approved Document F, and Approved Document L standards, ensuring top air quality, comfort, and sustainability in schools. Designed for mainstream and (SEN) settings, it creates healthier, quieter, and more efficient learning spaces, enhancing pupil focus and well-being.
In line with BB101, ClassFlo® CF350 keeps CO2 levels below a daily
average of 1,000 ppm, with peaks above 1,500 ppm limited to under 20 minutes, providing 5-8 litres per second per person of fresh air. Its heat exchanger achieves 88% efficiency maintaining warm classrooms with minimal energy loss, supporting Approved Document L’s low- carbon goals for reduced carbon emissions. Unlike hybrid systems that alternate between air quality and warmth, ClassFlo®
CF350’s full heat
recovery design delivers consistent fresh air without mixing stale air, ensuring stable temperatures for an ideal learning environment.
Acoustically, it performs well below BB93’s 35 dB(A) classroom standard and 30 dB(A) for SEN sensory spaces, ensuring clear communication, especially for pupils with sensory or hearing challenges.
With F7 filtration, it captures fine particles and allergens, improving respiratory health, while dynamic and CO2 controlled ventilation, as per Approved Document F, optimises airflow for freshness and efficiency. ClassFlo®
sensor-driven demand- CF350 enhances classrooms
with fresh, filtered air to boost focus and reduce fatigue, stable temperatures for comfort, and quiet operation for inclusive learning, especially for SEN pupils. Its advanced filtration supports health and attendance, setting a high standard for school ventilation.
AVT‘s Site Engineering Services offer a full installation package for any of AVT’s extensive range of ventilation products which include energy efficient, custom built air handling units with or without heat recovery, cabinet and twin fans, and high temperature fans for commercial kitchens.
