et’s start with some good news about the British economy. Auditor KPMG expects it to grow three times as much this year as it did in 2023. Te not so good news is that, in real
terms, that means GDP growth will go from 0.1% last year to 0.3% in 2024. Te even more sobering news is that, barring an un- expected increase in investment (especially AI), productivity, managerial competence or public morale (aſter the general election result), KPMG predicts that the UK’s GDP will probably not grow faster than 1.0% a year for the rest of the decade.
