Room control devices based on open communication standards


SIEMENS offers a range of building automation devices that use the KNX communication protocol, which allows products from different manufacturers to operate on a common system. The company’s offerings are intended to manage various aspects of a room’s environment, from lighting and shading to HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning). One example is the Siemens Touch


Control TC5, an all-in-one room control unit. The TC5 can be configured using ETS software to manage multiple room functions, displaying data from external sensors and supporting temperature control, lighting adjustments, and shading. It also includes features to monitor indoor air quality, detecting particles such as PM2.5, PM10, COâ‚‚, and volatile organic compounds. The device can operate on automated settings or be adjusted to individual user preferences.


Another product in the Siemens range is the RDG200, which can function either independently or as part of an integrated system. These units provide room automation through built-in sensors, flexible power options, and a design intended for easy cleaning. The RDG200 devices are compatible with building management systems, including Siemens Desigo and other third-party solutions, and can control lighting, HVAC, and shading using the KNX protocol. “We have seen KNX evolve from a

Energy management platform provides
