DATA CENTRE MANAGEMENT

Modular power systems for large-scale infrastructure

Targeting hyperscale data centres and AI infrastructure, AVK has introduced its PowerPods system, a modular approach to delivering critical electrical infrastructure. The PowerPods

integrate key components such as UPS systems, switchgear, transformers, controls and enclosures into a single pre- engineered and transportable unit. Each unit is supplied ready for connection, with the aim of reducing on-site installation requirements and simplifying overall project delivery. The system is based on the company’s background in uninterruptible power supplies, standby generation and critical power services. The design can support

faster expansion of data centre capacity by enabling modular

deployment of power infrastructure. Described as technology-agnostic, the system allows customers to select compatible solutions rather than being restricted to a single platform.

In addition, the

PowerPods can be tailored for specific site requirements and are available for immediate deployment with relatively short lead times. Ben Pritchard, CEO at AVK, comments: “The

launch of the AVK PowerPods reinforces our position as one of the few businesses capable of designing, delivering and supporting the entire data centre power ecosystem – at scale, with true flexibility and with the engineering depth that critical infrastructure demands. Large data centres need partners who genuinely understand the full energy picture and we now own the full power train.” ▄ www.avk-seg.com

TRANE has introduced new models in its Sintesis eXcellent GVAF air-cooled chiller range for data centres and industrial facilities. The expanded GVAF platform is intended for high-density applications where operators are dealing with rising rack densities alongside higher ambient temperatures. The new GVAF 505 and GVAF 550 models increase system capacity to up to 2.5MW and are designed to continue operating in temperatures of up to 54°C ambient.

The updated GVAF platform is engineered to provide stable cooling performance under changing operating conditions while also helping facilities manage energy demand. The new models deliver stronger full-load performance and support higher- capacity free cooling for sites where uptime is critical. The chillers are designed for use with the low global warming potential refrigerant R1234ze.

Optional CORE condensers are also available to improve heat rejection and increase cooling performance within a smaller footprint. “At Trane, we are designing the future

of data centre cooling. These facilities rely on systems that deliver certainty – certainty of uptime, certainty of efficiency, and certainty of long term performance,” says Lauri Salmia, applied portfolio manager at Trane. “With higher capacities and a wider operating map, the upgraded GVAF platform reflects our engineering strength, deep application expertise, and engineered-to-order capability, enabling project-specific solutions delivered at scale. “The Trane GVAF platform has been

proven across hundreds of data centres and other mission-critical applications. Its robustness and efficiency improvements present strong retrofit opportunities with short payback periods.” ▄ trane.eu/data-center.html

We offer actuators, valves, sensors, and meters that are designed to ensure uninterrupted performance, optimal flow, standalone systems, and energy efficiency.

The data centre landscape is evolving, with newer GPUs requiring more heat rejection than ever before. Hot and cold aisle containment strategies cannot reject sufficient heat for high density racks. Belimo is ready with innovative data centre cooling technologies, facilitating more efficient liquid cooling systems that provide enhanced thermal conductivity and reduced energy consumption.
