Sector coupling could play a key role in the UK's eff orts to reduce carbon emissions, but its success will depend on careful planning and execution, says Andrew Harrop from Armstrong Fluid Technologies. Sector coupling works at district and community levels and links various energy streams, coordinating the electricity, gas, district heating, and district cooling systems to improve effi ciency and fl exibility. Andrew argues that this approach requires collaboration between stakeholders and the use of advanced digital tools for planning and implementation.
