Harrier, a UK photo print fulfilment centre in Newton Abbot, has implemented a combination of process-dedicated chillers and free cooling technology supplied by ICS COOL ENERGY to support its high-volume production operations. The centre produces millions of photo products annually for retail and app-based services across the UK and Europe. Maintaining stable temperatures in both production and IT zones is critical for product quality and operational reliability. ICS Cool Energy worked
collaboratively with Harrier, analysing operational data and long-term cost models from the outset. Rather than defaulting to an all-chiller approach, ICS Cool Energy proposed a system design combining process-dedicated

Premium air conditioning installed in luxury park home
In partnership with SpeedyFit, CARRIER SOLUTIONS UK has delivered a Toshiba air conditioning installation at Tingdene Caldecott Hall Country Park in Great Yarmouth. The project involved installing Haori and Shorai Edge systems within a high-specification park home, providing climate control tailored to both comfort and aesthetics. The Haori indoor units were selected
for their customisable covers, allowing seamless integration with interior décor, while both Haori and Shorai Edge systems operate at 19 dB(A) or lower to ensure quiet performance in living and sleeping areas. Outdoor multi-split 2- and 3-port inverter units operate at 43 dB(A) and feature a discreet design to minimise visual impact within the park. All installed systems include Toshiba
Ultra-Pure Filters, which capture up to 94% of PM2.5 particles, and offer A+++ energy-efficiency ratings. The installation was led by Simon Baker, regional sales

manager at Carrier Solutions UK, and aimed to combine high comfort, low noise, and environmental performance for the luxury park home setting. “The integration of the Haori and
Shorai Edge systems perfectly aligned with the luxury standards of the park while delivering optimal comfort and functionality,” says Paul Atkins of SpeedyFit. “Seeing the positive impact of our work on the spaces was really satisfying and we’re looking forward to

SHOWERSAVE has installed Waste Water Heat Recovery Systems (WWHRS) at Currie Community High School in Edinburgh as part of the school’s pursuit of Passivhaus certification. The £65 million facility, built under the Scottish government’s Learning Estate Investment Programme, accommodates around 1,000 students and includes a swimming pool, theatre, café and sports facilities. Passivhaus buildings are designed to minimise energy use and be resilient to future climate conditions. Currie Community High School is the third school in Scotland to meet these standards and is projected to use around 70% less energy than a conventional school. To support this whole-building energy
approach, Kier Construction selected Showersave’s WWHRS to recover heat from shower waste water and preheat incoming cold water. The systems can reduce hot water demand by up to 50%, helping the school achieve an operational target of 67 kWh/m²/year. The units are fully integrated into shower installations, require no behavioural change from
students, and are fully reusable and recyclable. At Currie Community High School,
Showersave’s systems maintain comfortable shower temperatures, cut energy costs and CO₂ emissions, and contribute to the school’s wider sustainability objectives, benefiting both students and the community. Renewable solution for truck dealership SOLAR PV
A Leicester truck dealership has worked with energy specialist CES to install a 457kW solar PV system, aimed at meeting its high energy demands and supporting future electrification of heavy vehicles. The Ford & Slater DAF Trucks site uses energy-intensive equipment, including welding stations, HGV brake testers and pit tools, and the solar installation is intended to reduce reliance on grid electricity while preparing for electric HGV charging. CES, in partnership with lead
contractor Ample Power, delivered the project using SunPower P7 modules and multiple SMA 125kW inverters. An energy storage system (ESS) is also being designed to store excess solar energy for later use, further improving efficiency and sustainability. During
installation, careful coordination with the roofing team and contractor was required to work around skylights, vents and pipework to maximise the array’s coverage. The project follows CES’s previous
solar work for DAF dealerships, including a 121kWp installation at Bridgwater, and demonstrates how integrated solar and storage solutions can reduce operational energy use and support electrification in commercial transport facilities. The success of that project alongside Ample Power contributed to setting new standards for DAF dealership specifications and establishing a blueprint for renewable energy integration in commercial
transport facilities. ■
