Oh I do like to be beside the seaside
ello again! I’m writing this on the other side of the MCV/DEVELOP Awards, which as far as I can tell went about as well as an awards show can go. There’s no rest for the wicked, though (or the Editor of MCV/DEVELOP, apparently) and I’m now headed at high-speed into wrapping up this issue, getting the next one done in time for gamescom, and also getting things ready for the next MCV/DEVELOP Women in Games Awards show.
There’s a good chance that you’re reading this letter after picking up the issue at Develop:Brighton, the games conference and beachside industry calendar staple run by our brilliant friends over at Tandem Events. We’ve tried extra hard to make sure that this very special show issue is just as interesting and as informative as the event itself.
This issue is a very good one (if I do say so myself) and includes not only our regular interviews and insightful editorial columns, but even a few longer features involving people and companies that are actually doing talks and/or attending the conference this year. The hope is that there will be some practical takeaways in here that you can apply to your own game development plans, and that you’ll want to hold onto the magazine long after you’ve left the seaside.
If you do see me around the show (I’ll be the ginger man melting in the corridors between panels and interviews if past years are representative of what it’s like for me at the event) then seven. I’ll be looking forward to it.
