How to make CBD Gummies with Silverson High Shear Mixers
CBD oil-based products are becoming increasingly popular, especially CBD gummies which claim to offer benefits such as pain relief and reduction of inflammation. The latest ‘how to’ video from Silverson Machines demonstrates the advantages of high shear mixing equipment for this application and other confectionery products. Formulations vary but typically gummies contain water, corn syrup and sugars such as
sucrose/glucose and artificial sweeteners. They also contain a gelling agent, Gelatine is most commonly used. In the video, see how a Silverson mixer is able to disperse the gelling agent without the formation of agglomerates, maximising yield, in the small batch sizes typical of this sector. The same mixer can be used to instantly blend high viscosity syrup into water, dissolve high concentrations of sugar at ambient temperature and uniformly disperse CBD oil, colourings and flavourings throughout the mix.

Electroserv expands into the South with 6-figure investment
Electroserv has invested £250,000 in flagship calibration facility and service hub in the south of England.
To meet the needs of process industry customers throughout the country, Electroserv has launched a new service hub, which comprises a wet flow calibration rig and electrical, temperature and pressure calibration facilities, as well as meeting and office space. The new facility is Electroserv’s second dedicated calibration centre in the UK. Simon Fisher,
Hörmann UK Series 60 – High Speed Industrial Sectional Door. Seeing is believing
The new high speed industrial sectional door from Hörmann UK, the Series 60, has been designed and developed to provide quality construction, high security, and easy installation. When fitted with the new WA 500 FU operator, the Series 60 can achieve an impressive door opening speed of up to 1 m/s making it the fastest sectional door on the market, helping speed up warehouse operations and reduce building heat loss. To illustrate just how fast the Series 60 is, Hörmann have
produced a speed test film which clearly demonstrates the superior speed of the new door when compared directly with an older version of the door. The video is available to view by scanning the QR code provided or by clicking the link (567) Series 60 comparison - YouTube. Electroserv Managing Director commented: “The new hub houses our flagship flowrig which is part of our collaboration with Endress+Hauser. The flagship rig is the most accurate calibration system in the UK, and the state-of-the-art facility will ensure compliance with marginal process interruption for our customers. “We’re committed to integrating sustainable, agile processes to our operations. Expanding into the south of England will mean our customers’ instruments will spend less time in transit, and therefore reduce the amount of travel and ultimately the associated carbon footprint.” Simon continued: “In just half an hour, instruments can be fitted, tested and removed. The
system is also fully programmable to accommodate the vast range of requirements our customers expect from a flagship facility,” which includes:
• Flowmeter sizes up to 3-inch diameter • Flow rates from 0.001m3/hr to 80m3/hr • Measurement uncertainty of ±0.1% o.r. • Pressure ranges from -1bar to 100bar • Temperature ranges from -30oC to 1600oC • UKAS accreditation to ISO 17025 • Certificate of calibration supplied
The Bramley calibration facility has also provided opportunities for employment in
Basingstoke and beyond, with 6 jobs created, covering a variety of roles including technicians, engineers, marketing and sales.

The new podis® power bus system from Wieland Electric
The new podis® power bus system from Wieland Electric helps to implement the distribution of power quickly and easily. Ideal for use in airports for baggage conveyor systems, office buildings, shopping centres for the ruting of power, the podis® power bus system has found popularity more recently for the installation of vehicle charging stations for electric cars in public parking garages. The podis® decentralised energy distribution system allows a large number of charging stations to be connected with just one supply cable. High currents have to be distributed safely without disturbing the existing installation. Often
in existing buildings the space required for this application has not been taken into account. And it needs to be easy to extend the installation to accommodate the foreseeable increasing demand for additional charging stations. As a result, a supposedly simple installation soon becomes a complex task.
