SUPPLY CHAIN SOLUTIONS

WAREHOUSING, HANDLING & STORAGE

STREAMLINE COMPLEX PRODUCTION PLANNING New solution empowers planners to anticipate and respond to disruption faster, redefining supply chain planning

S

upply chain technology company, Replan, today announced the launch of a revolutionary new production planning solution, along with a £2m investment round, led by Hoxton Ventures. The first solution to generate dynamic production sequences combined with mid-term group-level planning, Replan helps manufacturers streamline complex planning and increase supply chain agility, responsiveness, and resilience.

For the first time, supply chain leaders will be able to leverage fast scenarios and responsive production sequences in the mid-term planning horizon. This will enable manufacturers to respond to disruption faster by managing inventory levels, minimising time and costs incurred through changeovers and improving operational efficiency.

The cloud-based platform uses cutting-edge AI modelling and optimisation capabilities to transform and scale production planning. Intelligent algorithms deliver flexible, repeating

production sequences, improving the efficiency and clarity of integrated business planning (IBP) and sales and operations planning (S&OP) processes. Fast scenario modelling also enables manufacturers to confidently generate alternative production sequences in minutes. Richie Barter, CEO at Replan, comments: “Manufacturers urgently need to build more agile and resilient supply chains. Many are now too complex and interconnected to be managed by outdated manual systems which lack agility and responsiveness. By empowering planners to generate dynamic production sequences at group level, Replan will make supply chain planning infinitely easier.”

The launch comes as supply chains continue to experience disruption due to the pandemic, supply shortages and geopolitical unrest. With the volume and velocity of change exposing critical technology and processing problems at the heart of supply chains, planners are looking for new solutions to help transform production

planning and quickly respond to volatile inventory replenishment needs.

Created in response to a growing demand for enhanced production planning solutions, Replan is the culmination of over 10 years’ deep expertise in intelligent automation and over £5m investment. The company attracted investors with its expertise and ambition to redefine the supply chain planning process. The latest investment round led by Hoxton Ventures was secured to fuel ongoing market growth and continued innovation in production planning, including expansion to North America.

“Replan’s technology is key to keeping the manufacturing supply chain efficient and moving. The company is tackling critical planning challenges that went largely unaddressed before COVID-19, but that cause costs and delays for manufacturers,” adds Hussein Kanji, Partner, Hoxton Ventures.

MOECO REINVENTS SUPPLY CHAIN TRACKING WITH ITS INNOVATIVE SUSTAINABLE 5G-BASED SOLUTION

M

oeco, a provider of visibility solutions that improve global supply chain operations, has developed a new generation of disposable cargo trackers that enables logistics companies to significantly reduce costs through improved visibility into the location and condition of every package and shipment.

The Moeco Act Tracker uses 4G and 5G cellular networks and supports 2G and 3G network gathering to provide logistics companies with real-time access to geolocation, temperature, humidity, light and shock data. The tracker works in over 180+ countries and is compliant with The International Air Transport Association (IATA), which ensures safe, sustainable and efficient operations while supporting harmonisation across the aviation industry.

Real-time tracking means that cargo acceptance at intermediate points of the supply chain is automated, and the number of goods that need

to be checked manually is reduced significantly. Since conditions are continuously monitored, only those goods that have violated the conditions of transportation require manual checks by staff, which reduces checkpoint labour costs. Logistics companies can access analytics on shipments in real time through a SaaS platform with dashboards and one-time trackers that easily stick onto packages and boxes. This enables logistics companies to offer premium shipment tracking and disposition services to their customers, which is an additional advantage in a highly competitive market.

Moeco is setting new standards in the sustainability of trackers. The Moeco Act Tracker contains less than 2g of lithium, which means they can be disposed of as plastic waste, and, with a unit cost starting at $14, is up to 80% less expensive than competing analogue sensors. Alexa Sinyachova, CEO and co-founder at Moeco

said, “There is a pervasive misunderstanding in this industry that any reusable item is better than a disposable item, when in fact, a reusable tracker has a higher CO2 impact than a disposable tracker. This is because only five per cent of all shipments require two-way tracking - or reverse logistics - but reusable trackers have to be returned to the original location once a shipment has reached its destination. In addition, the production of a reusable tracker generates more CO2 than the production of a disposable tracker, since the battery in the reusable tracker is larger. “A disposable tracker does not require reverse logistics. Upon arrival at the endpoint, it is folded in half, electronic components are disposed of separately, plastic ones separately. We advocate the creation of disposable trackers. It is more environmentally friendly.”
