ProAmpac European Launch of New High-Performance Mono PE Recyclable Film P
roAmpac, a leader in flexible packaging and material science, announces the launch of ProActive Recyclable R-2050, their newest patent- pending addition to the ProActive Recyclable® series of polyethylene-based structures, being introduced to serve the European market. R-2050’s unique performance characteristics make it an ideal replacement for conventional multi-material laminates without affecting the high-speed filling line efficiencies.
R-2050 is the newest member of the ProActive Sustainability family and is available in standard and high-barrier versions to maintain or extend the shelf life of food products. Both platforms are widely recyclable in Europe through existing streams, and OPRL compliant in the UK for front-of-store drop-off. “ProAmpac continues to deliver on our mission to help our customers meet their sustainable packaging
Intradco Global transports over 300 cattle to support dairy industry in West Africa
I
ntradco Global, world-leading animal transport specialist and part of Chapman Freeborn and Avia Solutions Group, has transported 330 cattle from Europe to West Africa.
The genetic breeding cattle were moved on behalf of a longstanding client as part of a largescale governmental initiative to increase dairy production yields in the area, benefiting local populations.
The region has historically dealt with a deficit between supply and demand of milk, resulting in expensive import costs for the government. However, the cattle transported by Intradco Global will redress this imbalance, with each cow estimated to produce 40 litres of high-quality milk per day. The operation took place across two charter flights throughout January, both of which saw Intradco Global’s ground operations team present at the departure and arrival airports to oversee every aspect of the operation.
Hayden Edwards, Cargo Account Manager – Commercial at Intradco Global comments, “Being involved in an important project that will have a positive and tangible impact on the local community is a great feeling, and so is knowing that our longstanding client once again trusted Intradco Global to deliver their precious cargo. We look forward to working with them again in the future.”
goals. The ProActive Recyclable® R-2050 series is now produced and available in the United Kingdom and Europe as a sustainable alternative to conventional multi-material laminated structures without sacrificing performance,” states Adam Grose, chief commercial officer for ProAmpac.
Available in rollstock or premade pouches with optional recyclable reclose features, the R-2050 series is ideal for various applications, including dry foods, frozen foods, pet treats and fresh produce. “R-2050 is engineered to have high clarity and drop resistance, excellent stiffness and dimpling resistance for a premium shelf appearance,” states Hesam Tabatabaei, global vice president of product development and innovation at ProAmpac. “R-2050 provides superior puncture resistance and excellent directional tear without the need for laser scoring. Engineered with superior heat
resistance, R-2050 allows for optimal speeds, a wide operating window, and high efficiencies on high-speed horizontal, vertical, and flow wrap form fill sealing lines,” added Tabatabaei. R-2050 utilizes ProAmpac’s award-winning high definition (HD) flexographic printed graphics and is available with matte or gloss registration to offer brands a package that pops off the shelf. In addition to the R-2050, ProAmpac offers a range of ProActive Recyclable film and paper-based flexible packaging solutions.
Come see samples of ProActive Recyclable R-2050 at ProAmpac’s stand (N34) during Packaging Innovations, 15-16 February in Birmingham, England. REWE International will rely on Körber’s R
EWE International AG has chosen Körber’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) to be deployed across 40+ European locations.
K.Motion WMS aims to optimise a complex process landscape, bringing maximum flexibility to meet the multi- layered demands of the food and pharmacy retail industry. Michael Brandl, EVP Operations Software EMEA at Körber Business Area Supply Chain explains: “Today’s supply chains face a myriad of complexities. These include sudden delivery bottlenecks, rising customer expectations, ever-larger product ranges as well as hybrid fulfillment concepts and labor shortage. This leads to significantly higher demands on efficiency and
transparency in logistics operations, for which digitised strategies are becoming indispensable in order to also tap new potentials of data use and analysis.”
The rollout will take place in two stages. In the pilot phase until mid-2025, Körber will implement the WMS at five locations for dry and fresh assortments, and cross-docking. At the same time Körber will be integrating to REWE’s existing ERP system to ensure maximum agility to its current operations. The additional 35 locations will be converted with support from Körber through REWE International. The system is anticipated to go live by 2028. “The decisive factor for us was the support from a strong
