ESAB’s Robust Feed wins Red Dot Award for product design


ESAB announced that its Robust Feed wire feeder has received the highly coveted Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021. The Robust Feed was designed for portability, durability and productivity, featuring a fibre-reinforced case and select areas of double-wall steel to provide additional impact resistance, an optional heater that drives off moisture to preserve wire integrity, and all controls, power and gas connections are inside the case with a dedicated service cover, providing easy access to the electronics. It is the only portable feeder with an IP44 protection class rating, which means it is protected against water splashes from all directions, as well as solid objects larger than 1 mm. This is the second Red Dot award ESAB has won for product design. The brand won in 2018 for the Renegade TIG power source.

Grab-O-Matic Quick Attach/Release Drum Handler


St Clare Engineering Ltd (Grab-O-Matic) have developed a Quick Attach/Release drum handler fork attachment. The Grab-O-Matic QR-2-DLR is a double drum handler that can be securely attached to the forks and released without the need for the truck driver to dismount from his cab. St Clare Engineering are always looking to develop their Grab-O-Matic range of drum


handling fork attachments to try and increase safety and efficiency. The time it takes to attach and release mechanical attachments from the forks was


identified as an area where improvements could be made with the correct design and implementation. Current methods to secure attachments include T Bolt Fixings, Heel Pins or Chain & Clamps


onto the forks or carriages of the fork truck. All these involved the truck driver dismounting from his cab to secure the attachment to the forks, all perfectly safe ways to secure the units but time consuming.

Hart launches Speedor Lite


Hart Doors, the Newcastle-based designer and manufacturer of industrial door systems including high speed roller doors and commercial roller shutters, has completed the installation of its first Speedor Lite, a new variant of its famous Speedor range of high-speed doors. The installation is in a temporary Rubb building at Hart’s headquarters. “Rubb is the leading provider of


high-quality fabric buildings worldwide and we have good links with them. Speedor Lite is ideal for use within a facility especially if compartmentalisation is required,” says Melanie Rosby, Hart’s marketing manager. “Rubb’s temporary building gave us an opportunity to launch the new variant. Speedor Lite retains automatic


operation, high-speed and robust engineering for high-traffic situations as associated with the Speedor brand and is therefore a valuable asset in any situation where energy-saving, dust control and so on are important.” Hart’s Speedor high speed door system now features a range of seven automatic, high speed door variants from


its Speedor Storm door to Speedor Lite.
