BARCODING, LABELLING & PACKAGING u KINGFISHER LABELS Increasing efficiency and

capacity in a new facility The team at Kingfisher Labels recently announced the successful purchase of a new factory space. After over a year of planning, sales director Andy Watts introduces you to the facility – and the company’s connected plans for the future that are finally coming to fruition.

S

ince May 2022, a new workspace has been on the cards for Kingfisher, in line with the demands of our growing

customer base. We’ve been working hard to identify, purchase, and efficiently handle the transition into a larger facility, and we’re so glad it’s finally happening. Our new address is: Hawksworth House, Great Western Business Park, Hawksworth Road, Yate, Bristol, BS37 5NW.

DOUBLE THE SIZE, DOUBLE THE POTENTIAL Our new site is twice the size of the previous premises. This scale change was an intentional choice and the driving force behind our decision to relocate in the first place. As we’ve come through the pandemic and enjoyed plenty of commercial success in the last few years, the level of demand for our services has been on a steady upward trajectory. We know we need to capitalise on this, and moving to a larger facility will help us better serve long- time and first-time customers. Put simply, our needs have changed and

evolved. We’re ready for bigger and better. We’re ready to fill all our extra room with investments that increase our efficiency and capacity, allowing us to meet customer requirements surrounding quantity, quality and delivery timeframe.

CONTINUED TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT In an industry increasingly defined by technology, we plan to keep investing in quality, cutting-edge machinery on an ongoing basis as we settle into our 2.0 factory and establish new working rhythms. This includes machinery that increases our ability to produce sustainable, environmentally friendly results for our eco-conscious customers. Similarly, we plan to keep using our available technology wisely and collaboratively, finding ways to creatively problem-solve where necessary. Our well-trained, experienced team members in both the design and manufacturing stages are of enormous importance when it comes to getting the most out of our existing equipment (and pinpointing necessary areas for

further investment). On the heels of our move to Hawksworth

House, we’ve purchased a Mark Andy Digital Pro 3 Press. We also recently added two additional Edale print units into the mix to improve our colour capacity. Further purchases will follow.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME Customer experience is at the heart of everything we do at Kingfisher Labels. It’s priority number one. To my mind, it forms the backbone of our company. As such, working to improve customer experience was the primary reason for this move. Then, it was the primary reason we worked so hard to minimise any service disruption caused by the relocation process. Forming part of this disruption minimisation was the decision not to head too far from home. Yes, we’re swapping one site for another and doubling in size, but we’ll still be based in Yate, just like before. We remain well-placed to meet the labelling needs of customers in Bristol and beyond. There’s no place like home – and nothing comparable to our loyal local clients.

PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE At Kingfisher Labels, we’re always looking at what’s to come. I’m not only referring to the future of our company when I say this. Though carefully developing long-term plans for the business is integral to how we operate, so is maintaining an awareness of the wider industry. Just as we have in the decades since our founding in 1996, we know we’ll see significant changes to labelling and packaging in the next 10 years – and we’re ready to embrace them as they come. We’ve always been a company led by core values of efficiency, simplicity, and flexibility. Flexibility is especially vital where the future is concerned. Any long-lasting business must have enough flexibility to move with the times. To constantly make the necessary improvements to working methods. To meet customer demands, even when they change in shape and scope. That’s precisely what we’ve done with our

carefully planned relocation to the BS37 5NW site, and that’s what we’ll continue to do as we fill the new factory with quality machinery and trusted team members.
