New PPE company launches its business and partners with Japanese firm Shigematsu

A

s UK companies begin to emerge from the restrictions of a third lockdown, brand new personal

protective equipment (PPE) company, Ultimo Safety, launches as a manufacturer and supplier of high-quality respiratory protective equipment (RPE), safety eyewear and hearing protection. Ultimo Safety is not new to this market; in fact, it brings with it a wealth of knowledge, expertise and heritage in both personnel and products.

MANAGEMENT Joining Ultimo as Director is Nick Moore, a name that is familiar in the industry as a leading expert, having worked across both RPE and PPE markets for over 35 years. Most recently Nick was Director at Alpha Solway, where he was responsible for the conception, development, accreditation and launch of the Alpha 3000 Series, Alphaflow Series and the Alpha S masks, amongst many other highly- successful products. Moore was also instrumental in the

development of the Fit2Fit Scheme in 2006, representing the UK in the implementation of the ISO 16975-3:2017 fit testing procedures and continues with a high level of involvement in fit testing to this day. “My drive in this industry is to develop

and present to market the very best quality products that offer the highest levels of protection,” said Moore. “In working with Ultimo, I aim to help develop products that are both innovative and superior, making us a brand you can always trust – and I am really excited about this new opportunity.”

PARTNERSHIP As part of its launch, Ultimo Safety has also partnered with Shigematsu, Japan’s leading respiratory manufacturer for over 100 years, to become its exclusive UK & Ireland partner for the STS – Shigematsu Respiratory Protection Range. Offering the highest quality protection with

incredibly strong performance results, the Shigematsu range of reuseable half- and full- face masks all incorporate a simple lightweight design with an easy fit twist lock filter system, available in many sizes. The range includes the FS01 Full Face Mask, the CF01 Full Face Mask, the RS01 Half Mask (TPE) and the RS01S Half Mask (silicone).

Through its offset connector, the FS01 Full Face Mask offers market-leading wide visibility with its enlarged polycarbonate 3D curve visor for even greater vision, whilst the CF01 Full Face Mask is ultra-lightweight and at just 360g is almost half the weight of current comparative masks. Similarly, the RS01 Half Mask is one of the lightest reusable half-mask respirators on the market at just 105g, whilst the RS01S incorporates a soft and durable silicone facepiece and drop-down head harness which enhances comfort and ease of use. “We appreciate that launching a PPE company after a major pandemic is not an easy task, but with such a wealth of in-house experience and with superior-quality, highly- performing products like the Shigematsu range on board, we believe Ultimo Safety will offer the market a brand that they can truly rely on,” said James Mitson, Managing Director of Ultimo Safety.
