Mitsubishi Electric renews support for Make-A-Wish Ireland
Mitsubishi Electric Ireland supported Make-A-Wish Ireland by sponsoring the organisation’s latest Corporate Christmas Support fundraiser. The company has been an active Corporate
Partner since 2016, helping to enable the charity to grant wishes for children across the country battling life-threatening medical conditions. Make-A-Wish Ireland’s Christmas appeal is one of the non-gov ernment funded charity’s most important events. It aims to connect with thousands of companies in the country, offering them the chance to help bring hope, strength and happiness to children aged between three and 17 living with life-threatening illnesses, as well as their families. Thanks to the support of Mitsubishi Electric
Ireland, Make-A-Wish Ireland was able to reach out to over 5,500 businesses in 2022, driving awareness as well as corporate donations. This represents the company’s latest pledge to the charity, strengthening the company’s commitment to this cause. The initiative also strengthened Mitsubishi Electric Ireland’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pledges, as part of which it supports local

Rushlift wins £45m extension to Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland contract
Rushlift, the national full-service provider of materials handling equipment (MHE), has secured a three-year extension to its succ essful, long-running MHE contract with the UK and Ireland business of international building solutions and materials manufacturer and supplier, Saint-Gobain. At the end of the arrangement Saint- Gobain (UK&I) has the option to further extend the contract by two more years. The new £45m deal continues an existing
10-year agreement with Rushlift to supply, manage and maintain Saint-Gobain’s materials handling fl eet across its sites including distant
locations such as the Shetland Islands, Isle of Man and Jersey. In total, over 2,000 mixed- fl eet assets will continue to be managed by Rushlift across some 850+ manufacturing and merchant sites operated by Saint-Gobain brands such as Jewson, JP Corry, British Gypsum, Rencol, and many more. As under the existing contract, Rushlift will
supply, maintain and support a wide variety of forklift trucks of different manufacture, along with related industrial equipment – from counterbalance trucks, telehandlers, and reach trucks to loading shovels, powered access platforms and fl oor cleaning equipment. All vehicles will be regularly serviced under a set maintenance regime, with fast breakdown response and support. Ian Berrill, Transport and Supply Chain Solutions Director for Saint-Gobain (UK&I), said: “Over the last 10 years, Rushlift has proved to be a reliable partner, maintaining and upgrading our fl eet to match our service SLAs and working closely with us to help achieve our environmental targets. With this contract renewal, we have every confi dence that Rushlift will continue to deliver the dedicated service and total support that we need to run our business.”

XPO appoints new Technology Director for the UK and
XPO has announced the appointment of David Picking to lead the company’s technology organisation in the UK and Ireland, effective immediately. He reports to Dan Myers, Managing Director for the region, as well as Nigel Rouch, Head of Strategic Projects and Technology – Europe.
Mr Picking has more than three decades of technology leadership experience in the retail, pharmaceutical, leisure, and logistics sectors, including the implementation of sophisticated IT solutions for supply chain operations. Prior to XPO, he served as Chief Information Offi cer – EMEIA for Likewize, a global technology services company, and earlier held senior positions with SIG plc, Wincanton plc, and The Co- operative Group, amongst others. Dan Myers said: “Dave joins a great IT team who have ensured we remain ahead of the curve in technology. His background across a range of B2B and B2C sectors will be invaluable in continuing to develop leading edge, customer-centric solutions. I look forward to working closely with Dave to buil d on our strong track record as the leading technology pioneer in our industry.”
