ulti Pneumatics & CompAir is delighted to introduce one of its latest oil-lubricated compressors for its market-leading CompAir L range, offering best-in-class efficiency. The Frame 5, L Range comes in 90kW, 110kW and 132kW units. The new compressors deliver improved efficiency of up to 6% when compared with previous models, plus a 7% higher flow rate. The compressors are available in both fixed and regulated speeds, as well as air-cooled and water-cooled. All of the above models come to market with an entirely new airend, designed and manufactured by CompAir in Simmern, Germany. Killian O’Toole, Lead Service Engineer
with Multi Pneumatics, explains: “The Frame 5 L Range is capable of delivering pressure ranges from 5 to 13 bar and volume flow between 5.1 to 24.76m3/ min, CompAir’s latest oil-lubricated compressors are designed and proven to provide peace of mind to our clients who rely on the highest quality compressed air 24/7/365. This coupled with our unrivalled 44,000-hour warranty on the compressor airend, iConn remote monitoring as standard plus our team of factory-trained engineers has enabled us to provide the public and private sector with the Best in Class compressed air systems currently available.’’
PEACE OF MIND The newly-designed airend incorporates the CompAir patented oil regulation valve, automatically balancing oil and discharge temperatures to suit the site working environmental conditions. The automatic oil-regulation valve will remove the risk of condensate build-up within the compressor and prevent corrosion. It will also provide peace of mind to the end user that the oil within the compressor will remain at a suitably high standard between service intervals which can also in turn improve efficiency by up to 5%. The shaft seal incorporates three lines of defence by the way of three individual sealing points. The oil filter is also integrated into the compressor airend housing, eliminating the risk of oil leakage and the requirement for unnecessary pipework to and from the oil filter. CompAir has also added a new improved air-intake filter. Servicing of

the new units is designed specifically for ease of access to all components within the compressor housing. All drive motors in this range are supplied with an automatic greasing system controlled via the Delcos XL-SE controller as standard to continuously lubricate the premium quality bearings. The Delcos XL-SE touchscreen controller incorporates a home-page instant overview of the compressor status, real-time clock allowing pre- setting of compressor starting/stopping, second pressure band setting including timing schedule, integrated cooling and dryer control, fault history log for in- depth analysis, multiple programmable outputs for bms signalling, remote control via programmable inputs, auto restart after power failure, SD card – stores several run characteristics, iConn enabled all as standard. The latest additions to the acclaimed
L-Series also feature our Industry 4.0 solution, iConn, as standard. A digital compressed air management platform, iConn provides historic, real-time predictive and cognitive analytics, to help users optimise and improve compressor performance. In addition, it can help ensure users to stay one step ahead of any potential issues that may require maintenance, helping to save time and money.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY Further Energy efficiency can be achieved with an optional integrated oil-to- water plate heat exchanger, allowing recovery of up to 72% of the power consumed. Approximately 10% of all electricity used in industry is accounted for by compressed air systems. It is a thermodynamic fact that around 95% of this energy is converted to heat and is wasted to the atmosphere through heat dissipated by the motor and cooling system, with the majority lost via the oil cooler. By re-directing the hot oil to a high-efficiency oil-to-water heat exchanger, the heat can be transferred to water, raising the temperature to a required level for many applications. The heat generated during compression is paid for as part of the process, then paid for again during removal by way of cooling fans. Instead of simply removing the heat, it can be used to generate hot water to heating systems and application processes in other areas of the installation. CompAir’s innovative heat recovery systems delivers the opportunity to save money and energy, help protect the environment plus reduce the end users’ carbon footprint.
