IRISH EXPANSION FOR PSE L
eading provider of wash, inspect and repair services for plastic pallets and
crates, Packaging Services Europe (PSE), has announced a significant new investment in Ireland. PSE has installed a brand new plastic pallet wash machine at Newcastle West, County Limerick. Representing an investment of more than a
quarter of a million pounds, the installation of this wash capability will play an important role in furthering PSE’s presence in Ireland. At full- use, the machine is capable of washing 2.5m pallets per year. Strategically situated in the heart of
Limerick, the location of the pallet wash facility is perfectly placed to offer further support for industries in the region, such as beverages, food processing, and pharmaceuticals - all of which are potentially high volume users of plastic pallets and reusable packaging.
Speaking of the investment, Andrew
Parkinson, co-founder of PSE commented: “The new installation at Newcastle West is an important step for PSE in Ireland. The Irish market is thriving at the moment, so we’re excited to be able to offer our innovative wash, inspect and repair service to an even wider pool of businesses.” The opening of the Limerick facility forms
part of a wider expansion project for PSE. The business now has a network of facilities across the UK and Ireland, opening a flagship facility in Leeds last year to support continued growth across the North of England. PSE works with businesses across an array
of sectors, including FMCG, pharmaceuticals and automotive.

logistics firms are in high spirits after marking the company’s 25th year in business. Transland Group, located in the
Ballycoolin area of Dublin, is a member of Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, it provides a diverse range of freight forwarding and haulage services for small to medium sized businesses in the Dublin and Southern Ireland area. The firm handles over 1,100 pallets every week on behalf of Palletways, covering on average 450,000 km across Southern Ireland, and employs
45 people in the UK and Ireland. Kieran Conlon, managing director
at Transland Group said: “We have grown significantly since the company was established in 1993. Initially, we handled magazine distribution between the UK and Ireland, but now we work with a range of customers across many sectors, from engineering and household goods to medical equipment and ambient foods. “We launched an online booking
service for our palletised freight deliveries over ten years ago and it’s still the only service of its kind within the Irish market, so that’s really helped us to continue to grow
within the Palletways network.” Barry Byers, Palletways’ network
development director, added: “Palletways is very proud to be part of the Transland success story. With Palletways support in providing the pallet network technology and infrastructure to support their business Transland have consistently delivered the best possible service for their customers.” Transland Group has been a
