P7 / SUPPLIER NEWS DIY Week speaks to Winster Ltd about its

development in staff recognition schemes

“I’m sure there are some great independents and start- ups we don’t even know about yet.”

Founded in 1874

This week we kick off entry to the 2019 DIY Week Awards. After such a fantastic event in London earlier this year, we are excited to see what next year brings and would love for your business to be a part of it. I’ve already seen and been told about some great new products that are making their way into

the UK market and know how much our judging panel is always on the lookout for real innovation and quality, so I hope to see these new launches lined up in front of judges on the day. Equally, we speak to and write about so many retail businesses every day at DIY Week, and I’m

sure there are some great independents and start-ups we probably don’t even know about yet. The DIY Week Awards are about celebrating best practice in retailing and the successes in our industry, so I sincerely hope you consider putting your business or your team forward this year. We cover a lot but it’s impossible for us to know about everything you are doing, so if you have something exciting that you know you probably should be shouting about, then please let us know and enter the DIY Week Awards. I speak to so many retailers – big and small – who detail some fantastic initiatives and developments, saying ‘we know we should be talking more about so-and-so’ or ‘yes, we probably should be promoting that a bit more’ and I then hear a list of excuses, whether it’s not having enough time, or simply being too modest to boast about their achievements as a business. I do get it. I’m not one to lap up being in the limelight and I can absolutely relate to being

stretched thin when it comes to finding time to juggle everything, but I can also absolutely recommend putting your business, team or product forward for an accolade like a DIY Week Award. Speaking to this year’s finalists and winners and hearing them talk about what they have got out of being shortlisted is so encouraging and makes running the event worthwhile. Whether you are a supplier looking to secure lucrative retail listings and wider promotion of your

product and brand, or a retail business worthy of industry-wide recognition and the chance to bring more customers through your doors by letting them know you are amongst the best of the best, the DIY Week Awards is for you. Find out more at www.diyweekawards.co.uk
