4 100 dishwasher tablets, from £31.99 We stock the above items, as our local Co-op is a convenience store, so therefore does not stock any large boxes/bottles in the cleaning range. HOPING FOR A

Nick Thompson, who

Longton Preston branch in 2015. But, with a background in garden centre retail, Mr Thompson has hit the floor running and is particularly keen to maximise sales in his cleaning and laundry department. “We’re busy all the time,” he tells DIY Week, “So it’s tough to get a lot done in one section in between customers, but cleaning and laundry is an area with huge potential and opportunity.”
“As a category, the margins are fairly small – around the same as paint – but in my opinion, it is just as important a category as paint. There is a huge demand for these products, which is why we are currently building up the category and giving it a bigger prominence in the store.”

Blundells Home Hardware is keen to unlock the potential of its cleaning and laundry department
Merchandising opportunities “I don’t find merchandising the cleaning and laundry products too much of a challenge,” says Mr Thompson. “It’s just about keeping all the items together where

“It’s not a challenge to
