Travis Perkins colleagues to test endurance in charity fundraiser
Two team members from Travis Perkins’ Chipping Norton branch are set to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society, Travis Perkins’ nominated charity, with two endurance-based sporting challenges this April.
Yard manager Eddy Webb is set to run a two-and-a-half marathons in a day, while branch manager Brian Kemp is planning to cycle 100km in a day on hilly terrain, with the intention to complete the feat in under five hours. Both are set to complete their challenges on Friday, April 10th with the duo to be joined by colleagues from the Cotswolds branch at various stages as they aim to raise as much as possible. Webb said: “This challenge came about because both of us are well into our sports. I do a lot of running and Brian is a committed cyclist. “We wanted to raise some money for Alzheimer’s Society, which we know offers life-changing support to people who are battling with dementia. We felt this was a good way to do it as we can get the rest of the team members at Chipping Norton Travis Perkins involved too.”
Colleagues Josh Wilson, Patric Brown, Alistair Brown, Abbie Larner and Jordan Bowden are also set to play their part, with the challenge becoming a branch- wide team effort.
“We are incredibly proud that Darren
has chosen to run the London Marathon in support of our charity. Every penny raised through this challenge goes directly back into the industry, enabling us to provide vital support services to those who need them most from mental health and wellbeing support to training, legal advice, financial assistance and more. The dedication and commitment of volunteers like Darren make this work possible, and the impact of their efforts is felt right across our industry and community.”

Ariel Plastics donates plastics for new ambulance conversion
A former horse box has been converted into a new ambulance, thanks to materials donated by Ariel Plastics, so that it can be hitched up to a ‘blue light’ tractor and attend to medical emergencies on the remote Channel Island of Sark.
As no cars are allowed on the tiny island, the 500+ residents get around by foot, bicycle or horse and cart, so if there is an emergency, the local Community First Responders fire up a tractor with the ambulance in tow to reach those in need of medical help as quickly as possible.
The Sark Ambulance Service is a volunteer-run emergency medical response service supported by the island’s doctor and the team at Ambulance and Rescue Guernsey, who not only provide backup but also have the Flying Christine ambulance boat permanently stationed in St Peter Port harbour, if residents need to be transferred to Guernsey.
Ariel Plastics, a plastics distribution company, donate dsix of its Coroclad Satin solid PVC hygienic cladding sheets, which are tough and durable and prohibit microbial materials from being absorbed into the sheets.
Ariel has seen its materials used in a raft of unusual installations – but in a horse box that is now an ambulance that is pulled by a ‘blue light’ tractor on a tiny Channel Island is definitely a first.
