In turn those people offer the best service and customers reflect that and keep coming back. “St Austell was just strategic for us in the sense that this is our Jewson heartland, and we wanted to demonstrate that we could invest in a heartland which has been neglected over the last couple of decades. And for me, what we’ve done here resonates with everything we’re trying to do in Jewson.” Whittaker added: “We are Cornwall’s biggest branch. The development started last April, and Whittaker says that trading whilst refurbishing presented several very large challenges. “At times it was carnage. But the team were first class. We had new members of the team start, and they quickly integrated, we had the current members of staff who just stepped up and all just pulled together to deliver what we have now. I’m really, really pleased. What we’ve got is absolutely amazing. The customer feedback has been great too. I always make a point of taking the customer through the timber trees, because when you’re in amongst it, that’s when you feel how vast it is, when you’re just surrounded.” BMJ

l Jewson’s Aberdeen branch opened on March 6, following a major refurbishment. The branch – located on The Parkway at the Bridge of Don – now stocks thousands more product ranges and materials, including a larger choice of plumbing and heating materials, and an extensive UPVC cladding, soffits and fascias range.
There’s an expanded in-branch tool hire offering, with a new manager, drive-in loading bays, where timber is kept dry undercover, as well as a new bathroom showroom, and access to the Project Estimator service, which helps builders save time in the planning stages of their projects.
