What is your current role and how long have you been doing it? Commercial Director of Lecico PLC and I joined the business full time on 1st September after working as consultant since December 2016


What does your role entail? Leading the Business through the commercial landscape with an overall objective of delivering a consistent  


How did you get started in this industry?


Ibstock Brick has added three new Account Managers. Paul Brodeur will work with builders’ merchants in Herefordshire, Avon, South Wales, Wiltshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. Rob Aitken will cover Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire. Chris Morrissey will cover the North West and North Wales.


Keyline has appointed Andy Rodgers as its new national account manager. He joins from Cubis Systems where he spent two years as the rail business development manager. Prior to this, Rodgers


worked at Polypipe Civils and Radius Systems.


Baxi Heating has appointed marketing director, Andrew Keating, to the role of UK aftersales and marketing director. He will now take charge of Baxi Customer


Support and Baxi Genuine Parts. OBITUARY


Kenneth (Ken) Howard Avery Smith, Chairman of EH Smith Builder’s Merchants passed away at the end of November at the age of 99, having worked for EH Smith for 80 years. He joined the family firm in 1937, taking charge in 1959 following


the death of his father. The EH Smith leadership team continues to include members of Mr Smith’s extended family. Chief Executive, John Parker, said: “Ken was a remarkable and much loved figurehead, who defined EH Smith’s first century in business. I know I speak for every member of our staff, as well as our family, when I say how much he will be missed.”

What would you like to achieve in your role?


The objectives set out by the board and the company’s shareholders whilst at the same time having the best time possible with all of the staff, suppliers  


What has been the highlight of your career so far?


I have been fortunate to be able to enjoy consistent sales growth and  I have worked in during my career but the main highlight has been - staying 


What are the main issues for the industry?


The main operational issue is that the customer experience has become more challenging to satisfy as people generally want to order today (or even tonight) and expect delivery on time and in full tomorrow irrespective of complexity and/or


 sales and worked my way up to senior board positions and consultancies with 


What roles were you doing before and how did they prepare you for this one? I have worked in commercial banking, engineering – then an industry change to building products supplies that over time has included roles in bathroom manufacturing, radiator manufacturing,   

If you could go back to the start of your career, what piece of advice would you give yourself?





Football, rugby, cycling, golf or gardening – which one’s more likely to keep you busy at the weekends? I enjoy all sports especially football and rugby but I just don’t get cricket – How can you play sport in long trousers and stop when it rains? Perhaps it is down to the fact that we were not allowed pieces of wood at my school in Liverpool – they were classed as 


If you’re at the bar – what are you drinking?


 Guinness and in Summer anywhere 


What’s your favourite book? Favourite 


   – The Godfather series was great but  
