Selco helps veterans with charity smokehouse plans


A Manchester based veterans’ charity is a step closer to opening a fully functioning smokehouse restaurant – thanks to a generous donation from from Selco Builders Warehouse through its Selco Stars scheme.


Veterans’ Garage, based at City Airport in Eccles, is hoping to extend its range of service to allow past military personnel to work in a fully-functioning restaurant. It has revamped the terminal building at the airport to create a hub for former members of the military and emergency services. Each month,


Selco – which has four branches in Manchester at Salford, Ardwick, Baguley and Ashton Moss - is donating £500 of building materials to two groups across the UK, with the 12 finalists going forward for a public vote for the chance to win £5,000 in cash.

Grant UK donates £10,000 to Wiltshire Air Ambulance charity


A donation of £10,000 has been made by Grant UK to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, a local charity that has been supported by the staff at Grant UK since 2019.


Just some of the fundraising activities including a Valentine’s Day Bake Sale which raised £100. In addition, Grant UK’s Head of Marketing, Anna Wakefield, ran the virtual Bath Half Marathon and fundraised £810. Other fundraising initiatives, including the selling of old company equipment and furniture, also helped contribute to the total. “2020 was an incredibly difficult year for charities in particular,” Wakefield says. “Despite the pandemic and


Baxi’s Badat pushes up the charity cash


A determined project manager at Baxi has completed 3,000 press ups, raising £1,200 for Teenage Cancer Trust.


The press ups challenge, which is an established initiative for the charity, encourages participants to raise vital funds by completing 3,000 press ups over the course of a single month. Adam Badat successfully completed the full challenge in under ten hours.


As well as encouraging staff in their own fundraising pursuits, the company also has its own Baxi Heating Charitable Trust, so the business can support charitable initiatives and organisations. Badat said: “When I’m not a project manager at Baxi I’m always at the gym, so it was the perfect way to put me through my paces

and raise money for such a great cause. While the impact of Covid- 19 has been hard on us all, I can only imagine the effect it has had on young people, especially those battling cancer. I am really proud to have helped such a fantastic charity and thank everyone at Baxi for supporting me.”
