steps to efficiency

F

inding innovative energy-saving measures for both commercial and domestic buildings can bring a

multitude of benefits ranging from cost cutting to environmental. Saving money is a priority, particularly

with volatile energy prices expected to increase again in the coming winter months. For business, any energy saving measures result in lower operating costs, while for homeowners its a pressure release on utility bills. But innovative energy saving practices

also have a direct impact on tackling carbon emissions – the key focus the Net Zero decarbonisation drive. The subject is targeted from varied angles this month. For example, Martyn Bridges of Worcester Bosch highlights the smaller and more immediate steps that can be taken to begin reducing carbon emissions (Pg 9). Meanwhile Steve McGregor of the DMA Group explains how and why we should be concentrating on getting the basics of energy efficiency and sustainability right (Pg 14). There is also insight into the role of

alternative fuels (Pg 28) and the evolution in radiator technology (Pg 38). Don’t miss our annual Commercial Boiler Guide starting from pg 21.

Radiator innovation combining aesthetics and new technology

T

he Radiator Company has launched its new Relax Hybrid – its first ventilated radiator that can warm and cool a space.

The radiator is said to offer the ultimate solution

for contemporary homes looking to address varying temperature needs in the UK without compromising on aesthetics. Advanced technology means it can heat and

cool, using both radiant heat and fan coil assisted engineering. This contemporary radiator offers a future proof solution that is compatible with both traditional boiler heating systems and heat pump installations. The silent force of the ventilating component evenly spreads heat throughout the space to reach desired temperatures quickly whilst maintaining the ideal climate over time. Thanks to its innovative design, Relax Hybrid can also serve as a cooling unit when paired with

compatible heat pump systems by automatically isolating the heating components. It is important that the system is designed with the correct insulation levels to prevent condensation from occurring on pipework. With soft, curved edges and a smooth and slim design, the Relax Hybrid is described as understated and unobtrusive. The Radiator Company claims this is the thinnest ventilated radiator on the market, with a thickness of only 107mm and it is available in both horizontal and vertical models. Finishes are grey sparkle, carbon, grey skies, matt white and sand, the Relax Hybrid is a radiator that can either blend seamlessly into a neutral interior design scheme or make a bold statement through the use of contrast. Finally, the Relax Hybrid can also be equipped with an LED lighting system to enhance its profile even further and help to create a calming mood in the space.
