DRU turns up the warmth new fi res utch fi replace
manufacturer DRU has introduced three new models for autumn 2026, designed for very diff erent homes and lifestyles. Based on the popular Dik Geurts Ivar 5 wood stove, the new DRU Global Ivar 5 CF has been designed specifi cally for installation into UK chimneys, making it equally at home in a period property, country cottage or more contemporary interior.
At its heart is DRU’s TrueFlame® burner, creating high, dancing fl ames around a realistic log bed. A Ceraglass interior enhances the eff ect, producing an impressive three-dimensional view of the fi re. The new DRU Valo range combines modern LED technology with real wood to create a more natural-looking fi replace display. Its Purewood log set features individual pieces with their own unique wood grain, complemented by wood chips and a luminous glow bed to produce a warm, organic eff ect. Valo can be confi gured as a single-sided, two-sided or three-sided fi re, providing plenty of scope for creative interior design. And at 29cm deep, it can be incorporated easily into media walls and false chimney breasts without taking too much space from the room. Operation is by remote control or app.
For larger rooms and dramatic open-plan interiors, the new Dik Geurts Instyle Triple U700 turns a wood fi re into an architectural feature. Built into a feature wall or room divider, its three-sided design provides an expansive view of the fl ames from diff erent areas of the room – ideal for creating a visual connection between living, dining and kitchen spaces. www.drufi

Activair manufacturer welcomes boost to Boiler Upgrade Scheme as households seek protection from rising energy costs
T
he recent announcement of a year-long uplift to the Government grant supporting the replacement
of specifi c types of fossil fuel boilers is already resulting in signifi cant increases in the number of households switching to high-effi ciency heat pumps, particularly in more remote rural areas.
Previously set at £7,500, those in England and Wales taking advantage of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) to switch from using an LPG or oil-fi red appliance to a far more effi cient and eco-
friendly air-to-water heat pump, such as those sold by Trianco, will now receive a maximum of £9,000, which can cover the entire installation cost depending on the size of the property.
As before, the BUS funding will be paid directly to the customer’s chosen Microgeneration Certifi cation Scheme (MCS) installer. Undoubtedly, many more households now appear to be taking the plunge and going green. Peter Beighton, managing director of Trianco, commented: “It is very welcome that the Government has upped the level of funding under the scheme, which now means many property owners can see their poorly performing old heating systems replaced without having to pay towards the installation themselves. Trianco has also seen a signifi cant number of its heat pumps, including the recently launched Trianco Activair Indoor Heat Pump, being fi tted in park homes. Although such properties are typically not as well insulated traditional homes, their small footprint means the output from a heat pump is more than adequate to cope with the elevated heat loss.
