LG

LG Electronics has launched the latest design in 4-way cassette technology available for both single split and Multi V installations. The new cassette features premium design and comes in a new colour – Bright White (RAL 9003). It features a new square grille design which makes these cassettes more aesthetically pleasing. The inlet area for the air intake is larger than for previous designs of cassettes, increasing airflow.

The new dual vane feature for each side of the cassette allows for a variety of angles for air flow. The airflow is controlled by a six-step angle feature - 10° to 85° - to ensure coverage for wider room spaces as required. A dual vane version suffers no air flow loss, enabling these cassettes to cool and heat room space more quickly and efficiently than standard vanes.

SWEGON

Swegon UK&I has responded to a surge in demand for fire safety testing by investing in its own furnace.

The company has installed the new test

furnace at its Actionair factory in Whitstable, Kent where it has been developing fire safety products for more than 40 years.

Having a test furnace on site is in line with the company ethos of providing products that are well adapted to the local market and developing fully tested, tailored solutions to suit UK and Ireland customers. The need for a test furnace had become more urgent following the Grenfell Tower disaster, which led to unprecedented demand for certification testing and put huge strain on existing capacity across the sector. This had the knock-on effect of making it difficult for manufacturers to find facilities able to carry out the crucial preliminary tests needed to help develop new products.

NAADUK The National Association of Air Duct Specialists

UK (NAADUK) has issued new guidance emphasising the importance of cleaning ventilation systems during the COVID-19 crisis. The guidance provides a better understanding of the role of ventilation systems in a pandemic and advice concentrates on the airborne transmission only as it relates heavily to ventilation systems. Peter Reid, president of NAADUK, said: “It is important at this unprecedented time to give our members and building owners clear guidance on the importance of cleaning ventilation systems. It is paramount that we keep occupied areas with fresh and clean air to avoid contamination within indoor spaces.”

The guidance is supplementary to all government guidelines in relation to social distancing, hand washing, essential travel and staying at home. Its scope is limited to commercial and public buildings. Hospitals and healthcare facilities are excluded due to the higher risk of contact with Covid-19 and the specialised work procedures required
