COMBAT
Combat Heating Solutions supplied an energy efficient heating system for a new warehouse for Freddie’s Flowers near Heathrow.
Combat designed a system to facilitate the packing area and the rest of the floor space as the roller shutter door to the entrance of the building needs to be kept open for deliveries and vehicle loading. Radiant was the only heating option that allowed this indoor/outdoor ambiance as a warm air system would be constantly flowing out of the door and heating the external atmosphere.
CoRayVac is an energy efficient system due to its vacuum operated, burners-in-series design, combined with its ability to condense. Lowering exhaust temperatures puts more heat in the space, less waste through the exhaust, helping result in additional efficiency and fuel savings. Burners regulate the air-to-gas mixture to achieve the optimum ratio for clean, efficient stoichiometric combustion. Models are available with inputs of; 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 kW.

GILBERTS
Series 61 (S61) is the latest smoke control damper to come to the market from Gilberts, the independent air movement specialist. The single ‘door sized’ S61 compliments the company’s established, successful UKCA certified and CE marked Series 60 (S60) smoke evacuation damper.
The new S61 has been designed, tested and certified to EN1366-2, EN1366-10 and EN12101-8 in both open-to-closed and closed-to-open (with its associated grille attachment). It has attained ES classification for integrity and smoke in air leakage tests, exceeding current legislative requirements and guidance. As its counterpart Series 60, S61 is manufactured from galvanised steel and will provide up to 120 minutes’ smoke and fire integrity.
Says Ian Rogers, Gilberts’ sales director: “Series 61 is engineered to offer specifiers an alternative with improved area and smoke leakage when exceptional capability is demanded, with an increase in size to suit mechanically ventilated shafts and enhanced leakage reduction.”

CONDAIR
Two Condair RS steam humidifiers have been installed, by Ceilite Air Conditioning, at the prestigious Henry Moore Foundation in Hertfordshire. Tim Cheshire, Ceilite’s applications engineer technical manager, said: “We required an efficient and effective method of humidification that could safely raise relative humidity (RH) in a large archive store for priceless artwork. There were some challenges posed by the space to work in and the infrastructure of the building, but the excellent installation team overcame the issues without any complaint. Would I specify Condair’s humidifiers again? Yes, without hesitation.” The previous humidity control strategy employed evaporative humidifiers at the Perry Green site. However, the archive store required a closer level of humidity control so the Condair RS was specified in consultation with the M&E consultant, Harley Haddow. The Condair RS is a resistive steam humidifier capable of providing ±5%RH control when operated on regular mains water and ±2% with RO water.

Over 15 years after it was first installed, The Kingspan KoolDuct System continues to support
excellent HVAC system performance as part of the Sterile Services Unit (SSU) for the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The facility handles all the sterilisation of medical and surgical equipment for the local NHS Trust facilities. The KoolDuct System was used to fabricate over 1,400m2
of supply and extract air ducts to and
from the HVAC AHUs. The system comprises foil-faced rigid insulation panels which can be used to fabricate lightweight runs of ductwork. Specifiers were impressed with the speed and ease of installation. An inspection of the HVAC system showed that the ductwork is in excellent condition. The KoolDuct System has been shown to achieve air-leakage rates far lower than those of standard rectangular sheet metal ductwork. This allows the specification of smaller, more efficient fans and helps to reduce operational costs.

Domus Ventilation has appointed two new contractor sales managers – Leigh Strange and Lewis McLeggan. The team will be headed by Tom Hemming, who has been promoted to national sales manager for contractor and distribution sales.
Leigh Strange is well versed in the ventilation industry, although most recently has been working in the plumbing and heating sector where he has enjoyed senior roles, including national specification manager and general manager. Lewis McLeggan is a newcomer to ventilation, but not to the built environment where he has been working for the past eight years. Lewis’ roles have predominantly been in account management positions, growing key accounts for different UK manufacturers. Tom Hemming has worked within the ventilation sector for 14 years and has long been an advocate for the ventilation sector: “Ventilation is an unsung hero in many ways and becoming all the more important as we begin to understand the wider implications of poor IAQ.”
