Growing compliance burden prompts launch of Technical Resource Library
Brymec, the building services manufacturer and integrated systems partner, has launched a free Technical Resource Library, providing M&E contractors, consulting engineers and specifi ers with 24/7 access to more than 850 data sheets, technical manuals, EPDs, product certifi cates, BIM and CAD fi les and specifi cation clauses, with no login required.
T
he timing is relevant. Under the Building Safety Act 2022, the golden thread requirement places a duty on principal
contractors and clients to maintain accurate, traceable records of product and compliance information throughout the lifecycle of higher-risk buildings. PAS 1192-6:2018 sets out the information management principles that underpin that duty. With the new Net Zero standard recently introduced, demand for sustainability documentation and evidence is also growing, placing further pressure on teams to demonstrate environmental performance alongside safety and compliance. As a result, documentation that may once have
been treated as a project admin task has become increasingly important. Whether it is a WRAS approval for a valve, an acoustic data sheet for
a drainage system, a Kitemark certificate for cast iron pipework or an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), building services professionals are under growing pressure to be able to locate, share and evidence information quickly. Yet, sourcing that information often means
searching across multiple supplier websites, portals and inboxes, particularly on complex projects involving numerous manufacturers. Brymec’s new Technical Resource Library brings together over 850 data sheets, technical manuals, EPDs, BIM fi les, product certifi cates (including WRAS, BBA and Kitemark), BIM and CAD fi les (RFA, RVT, RTE, DWG and 2D and specifi cation clauses in a single location, creating a central source of technical information across its product portfolio. Within a few clicks, professionals can learn
about the products and systems, download all technical resources and order online in one connected platform. Jeremy Douglas, specification director at Brymec, said: “The industry has always relied on technical documentation, but the importance of that information has increased significantly in recent years. Contractors and consultants are being asked to provide more evidence, more frequently, and often under tight project deadlines. “We regularly see teams spending valuable time searching for documents that already exist somewhere within the supply chain. Our aim was to create a single source of truth that makes technical information easier to access, easier to share and easier to rely on.” A key decision during development was to
make the platform fully accessible without registration.
