Compact Foilers installs latest cold foil module at Philtone Litho

C

ompact Foilers, a leading international manufacturer of modular cold foil and cast and cure technology, has installed one of its latest CF1000 PM models at Philtone Litho in Bristol, UK. The new unit, which is fitted to a five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106, offers Philtone a cost-effective means of meeting the growing demand for enhanced print work.

“We looked at all the supplier options and felt that Compact Foilers were best able to meet and even exceed our requirements. We have a substantial contract for cold foiling and needed to bring the capability in house,” said Steve Spencer, sales director of Philtone. The CF1000 PM module has been developed for cold foil and cast and cure applications to produce high quality effects on a wide variety of print media from lightweight papers to carton board. It has the latest Siemens drive and control technology to optimise foil yield with three foil saving systems fitted as standard. The tension control on the unit

allows multiple passes, while the integrated roll loading system eliminates the need for a crane or any handling equipment, so the reels can be loaded and set up in seconds to minimise downtime.

Speaking for Compact Foilers, chief executive Tim Self explained: “Our units are designed to be retrofitted to all makes of printing press. We take care of the installation, any modification, and all control integration to maintain the integrity and safety of the press. The modules match the high production speeds and operate in complete harmony with the latest sheet fed offset presses, leaving the operators to focus on their normal duties.”

With market research indicating that products enhanced by foil have 80% more appeal and a 25% higher shelf-offtake, it’s easy to see why an inline solution for printers is valuable to offer to their clients. The ability to attract more attention and hold it for longer enhances the quality, value, and brand awareness of a product, which in today’s

competitive retail environment is vital for market share.

With an extensive portfolio of top brand clients to satisfy, Philtone Litho prides itself on providing intelligent print solutions with industry-leading knowledge and expertise that offers high-quality and cost-effective printing, as proven by its accreditations that include ISO9001 for Quality, ISO14001 Environmental Standards, FSC, as well as Sedex and EcoVadis for the Ethical supply chain. The company, which operates a 24-hour workflow, offers a full range of services from pre-press to finishing and delivery with a diverse plant list that includes offset and digital printing capabilities. Concluding for Philtone Litho, managing director Neil Mercer stated: “We have always invested in the latest technology available, and this new cold foil unit from Compact Foilers has certainly increased our capabilities for existing and new customers alike.”
