THE VENDIES

‘Winning at The Vendies can be a boost for all involved’

Jo Roffey vending sales manager at Mondelēz International offers some insight into the snacks & confectionery giant and its participation in The Vendies

What does Mondelēz like about the Vendies? The Vendies brings the entire industry together and gets the whole vending supply chain to

reflect on activity and initiatives that have happened over the past 12 months. Everyone involved in vending can participate in The Vendies whether a supplier, operator or wholesaler. Of course, celebrating the successes of the year is important but

the Vendies is not just about winning. The process of entering and voting is also important giving this great sector a real focus point.

Why are you sponsoring the Best Vending Project category? Throughout the year there are some great initiatives in the sector which often go unseen, so we are keen to recognise and celebrate these achievements. Big and small projects are important and we encourage those of any scale to enter and put themselves forward for this industry accolade. Entering The Vendies can be extremely beneficial to teams working on the project and to win is a fantastic boost for all involved.

Why should the industry get involved by entering, voting and attending? The more the industry engages with The Vendies, the more recognition is generated within it. This creates excitement and a real focus point for the vending sector, adding value not just to winning but also to taking part. It’s also really important to recognise the many people who work tirelessly in the vending sector to serve consumers.

The Vendies rewards innovation, but how are snacks and confectionery evolving? Our snacking range provides operators with brands that consumers know and trust. These brands have become increasingly important other past two years and a recognisable range in a vending machine helps drive consumer confidence at the point of purchase. At Mondelēz International we are continually investing in our

portfolio, not just through new product development but also through media investment, driving sustainable supply chains with programmes such as Cocoa Life and Harmony and also initiatives such as portion control and clear nutritional labelling.

Snacks will always evolve, but to be successful, innovation needs to be based on thorough consumer insight with appropriate investment.

What does Mondelēz have to offer its vending customers and what is to come from the company? Mondelēz International provides a fantastic range of branded snacking solutions that are right for consumers, in the right format for vending and made in the right way. We call this ‘Snacking Made Right’. The consumer is at the heart of all we do and our iconic range of brands bring consumer recognition to any vending range. Our snacks provide solutions for different times of day to best serve our customers. belVita meets the morning breakfast occasion, for example, while a chocolate bar like Cadbury Twirl provides the perfect afternoon treat. We continue to innovate and invest in our range based on a deep understanding of the consumer; for example the introduction of Cadbury Twirl Orange and our reformulated, Cadbury Hot Chocolate for vending. Watch this space for more innovation and investment in this important channel.
