“With every major and emerging industry here at the show, CES 2019 is truly the global hub for innovation”

The big TV manufacturers were out in force at this year’s CES 2019 C

ES® 2019 opened on 8th January in Las Vegas, unveiling the latest transformative technologies that

will redefine industries, improve lives and solve some of today’s most pressing global challenges. The world’s largest and most influential

tech event featured some 4,500 exhibiting companies, including a record 1,200+ start-ups, with more than 20,000 products launched from the show floor.

“CES embodies the innovative spirit that defines the consumer technology industry – and the products and services launching here this week will empower citizens around the globe and change our world for the better,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association which owns and produces the event. “The entire technology ecosystem is gathered at CES 2019, with the latest in 5G, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, smart cities, sports tech, 8K video technology, robotics and more. With every major and emerging industry here at the show, CES 2019 is truly the global hub for innovation.” LG Electronics President and CTO Dr. I.P. Park kicked off the first keynote of 2019 with

ambitions to create a world of connected, intuitive AI-powered technologies that will seamlessly work in unison to deliver unparalleled customer experience in all areas of life. Dr. Park was joined on stage with a handful of high-level executives who will be partnering with LG, and for the first time a robot keynoter – the LG CLOi Guide Bot – took the CES stage. LG’s ThinQ AI platform will drive the future of the company as it sets its sights on self-driving vehicles, the smart home, smart cities and robotics. “Our vision in the coming age of AI is to become a lifestyle innovator that serves a truly intelligent way of living,” said Dr. Park. In what was a strong showing from the Korean manufacturer, LG also took home more than 140 awards and honours at CES 2019, led by the Engadget Best of CES Award in the TV category (the official award program of CES) for the fifth consecutive year, this time for the revolutionary LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R (model 65R9) – a 65- inch rollable OLED TV. The LG Soundbar (model SL9YG) and LG V40 ThinQ smartphone were also honoured by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) with CES Best of Innovation Awards in their respective categories. Not to be left out, Sony Electronics also fielded a strong line up, not least of which was its monster Master Series Z9G 8K LCD, its first 8K TV aimed at consumers, with screen sizes of 85 and 98 inches. The company has also updated its OLED TV range for 2019, with a change to the Master Series A9G’s form factor and screen sizes to allow viewers to sit much closer to the TV than previously. Movies and TV Shows will work seamlessly with Samsung’s Smart TV Services, such as Universal Guide, the New Bixby and Search, to create a consistent experience across Samsung’s platform. “We pride ourselves on working with

top industry leaders to deliver the widest range of content services to our Smart TV platform,” said Won-Jin Lee, Executive Vice President, Service Business of Visual Display at Samsung Electronics. “Bringing more content, value and open platform functionality to Samsung TV owners and Apple customers through iTunes and AirPlay is ideal for everyone.” “We look forward to bringing the iTunes and

AirPlay 2 experience to even more customers around the world through Samsung Smart TVs, so iPhone, iPad and Mac users have yet another way to enjoy all their favourite content on the biggest screen in their home,” said Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Internet Software and Services at Apple. Panasonic announced the launch of the GZ2000, featuring a custom-made Professional Edition 4K OLED panel which incorporates custom hardware improvements by Panasonic. Optimized by a leading Hollywood colourist, the new panel highlights unparalleled colour accuracy and significantly better than average brightness levels. The GZ2000 is the world's first OLED TV to

support both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR as well as HLG Photo, the new still image format which brings still photography into the HDR world. Furthermore, the GZ2000 is the world's first
