EIC Update New appointments; new sponsors

The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) has announced RWE as the latest sponsor of The Apprentice Playbook.

T

he playbook initiative aims to reach more apprentices across the Electrical and Energy industries, offering free, industry-specific mental health and wellbeing training, as well as tools and resources. RWE joins Aico in supporting the programme, reinforcing a shared commitment to improving the wellbeing of young people entering the industry. Their backing ensures the continuation and expansion of the Apprentice Playbook and allows the EIC to offer tailored, practical training courses completely free of charge to apprentices nationwide.

The Apprentice Playbook currently offers 15 online courses covering key topics such as money management, banter vs bullying, coping with suicide and loss, homelessness, anxiety, and

alcoholism. Apprentices can access these resources through the EIC Learning Management System. In addition to online training, the EIC is actively engaging with colleges, training providers and businesses by delivering both in-person and virtual talks. These sessions aim to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing, while introducing students and staff to the support services available. The charity is also expanding its presence at college open days and industry events, ensuring apprentices know where to turn for support from the very start of their careers.

By supporting apprentices from the outset of their careers, the EIC and its partners are helping to build confidence, resilience, and long-term success, ensuring the next generation of our workforce can thrive.

New head of welfare appointment In other EIC news, the charity has announced the appointment of Lucy Raemers as its new head of welfare services. Lucy brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and immense passion for welfare to the role, and is excited to continue supporting the industry.

Having been part of the Charity’s Welfare Team for five years, Lucy is eager to build on this experience and continue offering meaningful support to individuals and families across the industry who need it most.

With a background in suicide prevention and a strong passion for breaking stigmas around mental health, Lucy is incredibly proud of the work the Welfare Team has achieved in this space. She is now looking forward to leading the team into its next chapter.

Lucy says seeing the impact the Welfare team can make on individuals in the industry is deeply rewarding “The journey of support we offer on a daily basis feels fundamental and transformative for the people we support. It makes a lasting impact in times of real need. Leading a team that can offer that to people when they don’t know where to turn is such a privilege,” Lucy says.
