Boost your chip design verification productivity with an automatic UVM Generator


If you are using the Universal Verification Methodology (standardised by the IEEE in 2017) as part of your FPGA, ASIC or SoC design process, the automatic UVM Generator function in the latest release of Aldec’s Riviera-PRO can greatly boost your productivity.


The new function creates the UVM testbench in SystemVerilog for any design under test (DUT) written


in VHDL or Verilog. It also creates a framework of the UVM code, one that contains comments indicating places that must be manually populated with design-specific code. Along with SystemVerilog source files, the UVM Generator automatically creates the TCL macros for controlling the simulation process. You can choose a DUT from a library or start a new design from scratch.


The UVM-generated code can also be displayed in Riviera-PRO’s UVM Graph Window for better


visualization of the hierarchical UVM components, properties, connections, and dataflow; all of which greatly aid debugging.

TÜV SÜD today launches its dedicated Maritime SOLAS RADAR Test Range, the only independent test house in the UK, and one of three in the world, to offer ISO 17025* accredited testing against IEC 62388*. Located in Essex on the Thames


Estuary, the ex-Ministry of Defence test site meets all IEC 62388 radar range requirements. TÜV SÜD’s RADAR test reports are therefore recognised by maritime authorities globally, including shipping classification societies and EU Marine Equipment Directive (MED) Notified Bodies. TÜV SÜD’s new testing facility will significantly reduce time to market for RADAR manufacturers.


Previously they had to use multiple sites to cover various tests and were also required to accommodate witness testing by classification societies, as other laboratories are not ISO 17025 accredited. Phil Evans, Business Development Director for Marine at TÜV SÜD, said: “Our new facility is a real

Powerbox’s high peak load power supply for medical laser applications Highly Commended at the prestigious Electronics Industry Awards


Laser equipment is widely used in medical applications and from cosmetic through to general surgery they all require power supplies able to deliver very high peak energy levels to the laser or discharge tubes. However, high peak energy and the repetition thereof generates electromagnetic radiation and line disturbance. This is a challenge for power designers who need power solutions that are able to deliver the required amount of power without generating line disturbances, whilst also guaranteeing patient and operator safety when high voltages and energy levels are involved during the process.
