Nicomatic has expanded its UK team with the addition of highly-experienced custom connector specialist, Quentin Rillié, Field Applications Engineer, Custom Solutions, who has transferred to the UK operation from Nicomatic’s headquarters and manufacturing facility in France. Quentin has specialized in the design of Nicomatic custom solutions since joining the company some three years ago and brings his significant experience of solving more challenging design problems direct to the company’s UK customer base. Nicomatic designs and manufactures over a thousand custom solutions every year, solving customer design challenges to find the optimum solution for applications needing high-speed transmission, signal integrity and reliable performance under space-constrained or challenging environments, or where standard solutions are overly-complex, or simply no longer available. SparkFun Electronics Partners with MikroElektronika to Expand Rapid Prototyping Offerings


Two new boards will bring together three rapid prototyping ecosystems: SparkFun’s Qwiic® and MicroMod systems with MikroElektronika’s Click boards™


SparkFun Electronics and MikroElektronika (MIKROE) have partnered to create two new boards that merge their combined three rapid prototyping ecosystems: SparkFun Qwiic®, SparkFun MicroMod and MikroElektronika’s Click boards™. The new boards


allow users to quickly click or plug boards and peripherals together for a solderless prototyping experience. The mikroBUS standard, found on MikroElektronika’s Click boards, is similar to SparkFun’s Qwiic and MicroMod interfaces, making it a perfect pairing on a single board. The SparkFun RP2040 mikroBUS Development Board is a flexible digital interface featuring the Raspberry Pi Foundation's RP2040 microcontroller. The board combines SparkFun’s Qwiic I2C connections with a mikroBUS socket, allowing users to utilize both ecosystems when designing projects with the RP2040. Additionally, the board follows the Thing Plus or Feather PTH pin layout to allow for Thing Plus/Feather shields. The SparkFun MicroMod mikroBUS Carrier Board utilizes the MicroMod, Qwiic, and mikroBUS ecosystems to allow for easier rapid prototyping utilizing peripherals from any of the three systems. The MicroMod M.2 socket and mikroBUS 8-pin header provide users the freedom to experiment with the MicroMod ecosystem and any Click board in the mikroBUS ecosystem. The inclusion of two Qwiic connectors allows users to seamlessly integrate hundreds of Qwiic sensors and accessories into their projects.

Power Integrations Unveils High-Efficiency Quasi- Resonant PFC IC with 750 V GaN Switch


HiperPFS-5 ICs enable compact, efficient power-factor stage for ultra-fast adapters, consumer electronics, computer and appliance power supplies


Power Integrations (Nasdaq: POWI), the leader in high-voltage integrated circuits (ICs) for energy-efficient power conversion, today announced the HiperPFS™-5 family of power-factor- correction (PFC) ICs with an integrated 750 V PowiGaN™ gallium-nitride switch. With efficiency of up to 98.3 percent, the new ICs deliver up to 240 W without a heat sink and can achieve a power factor of better than 0.98. HiperPFS-5 ICs are ideal for high- power USB PD adapters, TVs, game consoles, all-in-one computers and appliances. Many countries require power supplies over 75 W to adjust for this effect with so-called power factor correction, or PFC. While there are many PFC solutions available, HiperPFS-5 ICs with PowiGaN technology and a quasi-resonant (QR) control scheme represent the pinnacle of the art and science of off- line power quality enhancement.

Improved performance, increase in equipment specification, and high voltage isolation protection margin are just some of the benefits of the new Series 104 4kV relays.


Pickering Electronics has increased the stand-off voltage values for its prevalent small-size Series 104 high voltage reed relays for up to 4kV. For the newly introduced versions this means a 1000VDC stand-off voltage improvement on the previous Series 104 product offering. Commented Kevin Mallett, Technical Specialist at Pickering Electronics: “The higher stand-off voltage improves the performance of the relay and allows for an increase in the equipment specification.” “It also means an increased high voltage protection margin for extra safety and security,” he added. Series 104 high voltage isolation reed relays are ideal for use in applications such as transformer and


cable testing or any other automatic test equipment where high voltages are involved. Where mains voltages switch, for example to control and isolate S.C.R. or triac gates, the devices are an ideal choice. Four types of dry switches are available for stacking on 0.25 inches pitch and capable of standing-off 1.5, 2, 3 or 4kV DC. The 3kV and 4kV versions benefit from an increased clearance between the switch and coil pins to accommodate the higher voltage. Higher voltage ratings are available upon request. The Series 104 range features one or two switches in a single package, 1 Form A, 2 Form A and 1 Form


B configurations as well as 5 V, 12 V or 24 V coils with optional internal diode. The internal mu-metal screen eliminates problems that would be experienced due to magnetic interaction when the relays are closely stacked. Mercury wetted devices are also available for applications where bounce free switching is required.
