EMITE and Anritsu solution ensures compatibility of LTE, WLAN and Bluetooth
E E
MITE and Anritsu Corporation have announced their latest combined solution for testing the compatibility of different
connection technologies such as LTE, WLAN and Bluetooth wireless technology. The Anritsu Wireless Connectivity Test Set MT8862A, Radio Communication Analyzer MT8821C and Bluetooth Test Set MT8852B have been integrated with the EMITE E600 Reverberation Chamber. The solution allows the testing
of OTA TRP/TIS/TPUT performance in a repeatable environment. With integral communications protocols and optimized performance for testing, the EMITE reverberation chamber and Anritsu platforms can reliably characterize the different coexistence scenarios of the latest devices.
In tests of coexistence scenarios of WLAN with LTE and Bluetooth technology, and LTE with WLAN and Bluetooth technology, the new integration has been able to measure
total radiated power (TRP), total isotropic sensitivity (TIS) and physical TPUT OTA performance indicators in market devices.
By providing the ability to test and implement the latest standards, EMITE and Anritsu ensure customers and service
providers can deliver fully compatible solutions to the market.

Airflow testing system determines and maximises cooling architectures in high static pressure applications
AO - the UK’s principal
representative for Japanese cooling airflow specialist Sanyo Denki - is utilising the company’s portable dual chamber thermal management testing system to maximise the thermal efficiency of customers’ equipment by accurately measuring and reporting the cooling performance of their enclosure designs. EAO’s dedicated team of cooling specialists are able to utilise the new Sanyo Denki airflow testing system on-site to identify and eliminate the cooling issues in a customer’s design that can lead to thermal overload and premature failure of critical equipment. According
to Jason Slaughter, Sanyo Denki product manager with EAO, the kit enables the system impedance (resistance to airflow), the operating airflow (the actual airflow when the cooling fan is mounted) and P-Q performance (airflow versus static pressure) of a populated enclosure to be easily measured and plotted as curves in a simple Excel graphical form. By overlaying this data over any fan performance curve the EAO team is able to optimise airflow around the enclosure whilst reducing noise and power consumption. The P-Q fan curves of fans from other manufacturers may also be easily digitised and overlaid onto any graph for comparison purposes.
In addition to enabling the optimum fan for a particular design to be speedily identified the new Sanyo Denki testing system eliminates the need for a built-in safety margin that inevitably leads to over-design and wasted money: “The new airflow testing system can lead to great improvements in the thermal design of equipment by enabling it to perform to its full potential whilst optimising power consumption and fan noise,” continued Slaughter. “By taking multiple measurements, it is possible to test out design improvements in real time
and save weeks of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) work by delivering real- world test calculations. The testing service takes around one hour and provides immediate results.“

ohde & Schwarz has launched what it describes as “the widest band, most flexible broadband RF amplifier available on the market”. The new R&S BBA300 family provides a single amplifier solution that eliminates the need to switch instruments or bands during a test. This facilitates testing on automotive and ultrawide band wireless communication radios for example.
The features of the new R&S BBA300 family include its continuous ultrawide frequency range from 380 MHz to 6 GHz in a single amplifier. This is believed to be an industry first. It comprehensively addresses the requirements of EMC test centres, RF component designers and product design & validation. The new

broadband amplifiers are a major advance on existing Rohde & Schwarz amplifiers for development and product validation tests in quality assurance, and in the development and production of RF components. The new broadband amplifiers offer impressive RF performance over this wide bandwidth ensuring dependable test results over the entire frequency range. Initially, two models are available. The BBA300-DE operates from 1 GHz to 6 GHz and the BBA300-CDE offers 380 MHz to 6 GHz capability.
The all-new design extends through its mechanical aspects, software, and RF design, delivering flexible and robust RF performance. The R&S BBA300 family’s design and manufacture are said to ensure

excellent linearity and outstanding noise power density (as low as -110 dBm/ Hz). It also ensures impressive harmonic performance (down to -25 dBc). Intelligent protection features ensure high availability, even in the event of component failure. Rohde & Schwarz’s high-quality design and manufacturing provide resilience against all forms of mismatch. With self-protection built-in, the instruments are robust against RF mismatch up to VSWR of 6:1. The R&S BBA300 models benefit from numerous smart settings and activation functions, which readily adapt instruments’ settings and behaviour according to the application. The amplifier design offers the ability to realise a broad array of customer system setups, offering
high flexibility and scalability, with upgradable frequency and power.
