Anglia and Murata Power Solutions: Leading innovation in power conversion
M
urata Power Solutions, a division of Murata, is a world leading manufacturer of DC-DC Power
Converters, AC-DC Power Supplies, Magnetics, Digital Panel Meters and Open Compute Datacentre Solutions. They offer product lines in custom, standard and modified-standard variations. The company's products are used
widely within major global market sectors including telecommunications, computing, industrial controls, healthcare, energy management systems and many other applications. In this month’s edition of CIE, Anglia demonstrates Murata Power Solutions continued leadership in power conversion with the addition of two solutions at opposite ends of the power spectrum: a 650W AC-DC Power Supply offering the highest power density in the industry and the first in a projected series of low power board-mount AC-DC converters offering ultra-low standby power conversion.
BAC1 Series 1W PCB mount AC-DC converters Anglia are offering the low power BAC1 series of isolated 1W regulated AC-DC converter modules which is the first series released by Murata Power Solutions from the BAC family of board mount AC-DC converters. The BAC1 series modules are housed in a single in-line package (SIP) format that is compatible with a common industry standard footprint. They have a universal input voltage
range from 85V to 277VAC making them suitable for use in all regions, there
are three output voltage options of 5, 12 or 24VDC. The AC-DC converter modules are pending recognition to ES60601-1, making them suitable for use in medical applications. The BAC1 series has been designed
for the most demanding environments and delivers full power in static air over the full industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The BAC1 series has ultra-low standby power consumption from 19.5mW, depending on model and input voltage condition, allowing it to meet demanding energy and cost saving applications. The products meet multiple agency
safety approvals, they are UL60950-1 recognised and EN60950-1 certified with recognition pending for UL60335-1. Recognition is also pending for ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 and 1 MOPP/2 MOOP’s medical standards.
PQU650 series 650W AC-DC power supplies The new Murata PQU650 series of open- frame, 650 W-rated AC-DC power supplies are also available from Anglia. The PQU650 series offers the highest power-density product currently available on the market, with forced air- and convection-cooled ambient ratings. The power supplies offer a multitude of standard features including wide output voltage adjustment range, auxiliary power rails and a high transient capability, at a competitive price. Measuring just 6" x 4" by 1 U high, the
power supplies accept a universal AC input and offer world-class efficiency levels up to 95 per cent. The series delivers a high
convection-cooled power rating with no system fan requirement up to 450W at ambient temperatures as high as 50°C. With as little as 300 LFM forced air-cooling, the available output power rises to 650W at ambient 50°C. The PQU650 series is designed to
deliver a peak output ‘power boost’ rating of 800W for up to 30 seconds to allow initialisation of inductive and capacitive loads. The PQU650 series has ten models
available with output ratings from 12 to 54V, and 12.1 to 54.2A, a safety cover is offered as an optional extra with screw terminals or pluggable header variants also available. Developed for demanding industrial and
medical applications, the PQU650 open- frame PSU is certified to EN60960 and IEC60601 3rd Edition medical standards, meeting 2 x MOPP primary to secondary, and 1 x MOPP primary to chassis. An isolation figure of 4KVAC primary to secondary, and 1500VAC secondary to chassis are standard.
The PQU650 is ideally suited for
industrial and medical applications where there are size constraints and for ‘no fan’ applications where low noise and maintenance are critical. They are also useful in transient load applications that require the PSU to provide high power for short durations. Applications include communications, test equipment, signage, broadcast, automated test equipment, lighting, PoE, datacoms and many others.
Anglia and Murata Anglia’s relationship with Murata spans more than two decades, over this time they have built up a strong understanding of the product line. They can offer technical support for the full range of Murata and Murata Power Solutions products via their team of field application engineers and hold inventory on a wide range of the most popular products.
