Do you have an online shop/website, and do you use social networking for business? Was this active during the lockdown?
www.stampedeshoes.co.uk – yes, I did sell online and later provided a click and collect service from my shop which I advertised on social media.
What’s selling well? Any particular trends? Which are your best- selling footwear brands – and why? I love and my customers love Ricosta. It is a quality brand which stands out from others and have very few faulty returns. I think this speaks volumes in the manufacturing process.
How important is shoe fitting to your business? Are you or any of your staff members of the Society of Shoe Fitters? Yes, shoe fitting is paramount in my business. I am a qualified Shoe Fitter and intending to put two more of my staff through the Society of Shoe Fitters course.
Does your shop sell other items besides footwear, bags, gloves, tights, socks, below the ankle products?
We sell clothing by Hatley and Kite as well as balloon displays for children (this helps fill in the financial gaps of slow footwear sales).
Do you use an EPOS (retail technology) system in your shop(s)? Yes, we use Intelligent Retail.
who was frantic as her son had just begun to walk and she had nothing to put on his feet. I took a measure, a bottle of anti-bacterial spray, gloves, facemask, selection of footwear and I drove to her house. I talked her through using the measure and served her at a distance on her doorstep. Word soon got out in our area and I became the local delivery service. It was exhausting and I believe it took its toll on my health, but I saved my business.
What is your favourite children’s footwear brand – and why? Ricosta Nippy is what I call my bread-and-butter shoe as I sell so many of them. I find they fit most feet.
How do you select your products – which criteria do you use / what are your customers looking for?
My customers are looking for price, style and variety.
