Kindly tell us about your shop, its location and your customers? I run The Chiropody Clinic and Footcare Centre in Shepherd’s
Bush with my wife who is a qualified podiatrist. We provide foot treatments for feet of all ages but we also stock Waldlaufer and Hotter Shoes and sell footcare products. Our business is in a High Street location in West London, we cater for customers of all ages.
How did you find out about Zubits, where and when?
A patient walked into the shop wearing them. I thought they were an interesting product so I went online and then contacted Zubits in the USA. That was in 2013
What made you decide to buy Zubits? The chap who I first saw wearing them loved them. My wife also thought it was a brilliant idea. Laces provide the best support in footwear but not everyone can use laces or tie them tight – Zubits allows you to do this.
Which features of the product do you like best and why?
Durability – in 9 years we have never seen a damaged Zubits. Simplicity – I use the Zubits website where it is easy to show customers how to fit them. I like the adjustability you can get with Zubits.
How does this product compare with other lacing solutions in the market? Well, we’ve tried elastic lacing solutions but Zubits give better support. There are also fake copies, I haven’t seen them myself but we have had a customer who told us that he’d bought some fake Zubits cheaper but said they were a waste of money – magnets not strong enough and not durable – so he came back for the real thing.
Which colours and sizes have worked best for you?
The medium strength magnets, size 2, are best
for most people. And this is London – so black is the most popular colour.
What sort of customer do Zubits benefit? Anyone with mobility problems or reduced strength in their fingers, or problems bending. You can close Zubits shoes quickly with little effort, for example with your foot raised. I’m told they are also selling well for children who can’t do laces – for example with autism or Down’s. I think there are probably a lot of applications I haven’t thought of.
Where does it stand price-wise? £20 might seem expensive but it’s a lifetime product – you re-use them when you change your shoes so it’s good value – and definitely better value than the copies out there.
Have you recommended Zubits to other retailers?
I’m not a traditional retailer as such – so no… I did consider becoming the importer but we are busy running our business so I did recommend them to the agents we buy Waldläufer Shoes through. They are now the UK importer and distributor so they are certainly recommending them.
