NEWS National Shoe Fitting Week - w/c 24th March 2018 #LOVEYOURFEET

Did you know that podiatrists are now signing up for National Shoe Fitting Week? Anyone and everyone can join in this nationwide initiative to make people think shoes, so if you are planning your publicity for 2018 make sure you bear this promotion in mind! It is a great kick-start to Easter and many shops run lots of competitions and special events in support of this event. It has even encouraged varied local shops to to network with one another ‘you put my clothes/books/toys/lighting etc. in your window and we will add shoes and your shop info to ours’, generating goodwill and an exchange of ideas and customers.

The poster is available free as a hard copy to

both S.S.F and C.F.H.R members (or non-members simply send a donation) and both logo and poster are available to download free of charge from the S.S.F. website: www.shoefitters-uk.org so start hitting social media on the 1st of March for a big build up. Remember – publicity is like throwing a pebble in a pool…you never know how far the ripples will go! Anything that will help increase footfall has to be a good thing.

Bama successful relaunch at Moda

S C Johnson have appointed Charles Birch Ltd as their UK distributors for the famous Bama brand from August 2017. Birch then were quick to feature a strong range of Bama shoe care on the stand of their other major brand, Vibram at Moda.

“This comprehensive range of Bama shoe care was well received by the

many visitors to our stand” said Charles Birch MD Chris Wilson “most customers were familiar with the different types of quality insoles but were seeing the polishes, aerosols and laces for the first time”.

The Bama brand was founded by Curt Bauman in 1914. With a craftsman’s

flair, tremendous hard work and just 750 Reichsmark in his pocket for a sewing machine and a clicking press, he created his first insole. It was designed to provide the foot with a soft underlay that gently envelopes, warms and protects.

In 2011 US-based Company S.C. Johnson acquired Bama GmbH. S C Johnson is a family company dedicated to producing innovative, high-quality products, excellence in the workplace and a long-term commitment to the environment and the communities in which it operates. Their other shoe care brands include Kiwi, Woly and Tana and their household brands include Pledge, Glade, and Mr Muscle. This 127-year old company, that generates $9 billion in sales, employs nearly 13,000 people globally and sells products in virtually every country around the world.

The Bama range now boasts a comprehensive range of top quality shoe

care products and laces as well as the world beating range of insoles on which its reputation was built.

The latest Bama innovation is the brand new BAMA 1234 Sneaker Range a

range of four products dedicated to caring for all sneakers, trainers and casual footwear. Clearly labelled, these four products Clean, Condition and Care, Protect and Deodorise the shoes. For the retailer these new products come with a free counter stand for an easy display to enhance sales.

Chris Wilson, Managing Director of Charles Birch commented “Having sold

Bama insoles for the last forty years we are delighted to have been appointed by S C Johnson as the UK’s Bama distributor. Their excellent range of laces and shoe care will also fir perfectly into our existing offer.”
