What the retailers had to say about November 2019:
“I don’t know if it is across the country, but although October and November were good for my shop, December has been very slow. Much slower than this time last year. All I can see is the food shops bulging, so people must be prioritising their spending on their tummies! I haven’t gone to sale yet and want to wait it out until the New Year (as I did last year) otherwise I feel locals see a pattern and don’t buy in the weeks and months leading up, thinking they will get a better bargain if they wait. Then the sale seems to get earlier and earlier. I noticed Clarks in our nearest main town have a sale on, but it seems to be bits and bobs and not the main AW stock.” Amanda Kent M.S.S.F
.,Solent Shoes, Portchester .
“November was another tough month, Black Friday did help to sell more merchandise, but at low prices, cleared out some obsolete shoes and boots.” Bernard O’Brien, Luke O’Brien Shoes, Tuam, Co. Galway.
