PPMA Show: ‘Inside the Exhibition’ with Gregg Wallace
T
he PPMA show organisers, Automate UK, have been developing the UK’s largest processing and packaging event to be yet another spectacular event this year, taking place between 24-26 September at the NEC Birmingham. Hence, the well- known broadcaster, entrepreneur and writer, Gregg Wallace, will be spending a day at the PPMA show this year, to explore the world of processing and packaging machinery, robotics and industrial vision systems as he goes ‘Inside the Exhibition’. The show is renowned for being the place to be for visitors, with plenty packaging solutions, discover fascinating new machinery, broaden knowledge at expert talks, and engage in face-to-face networking. The event will equip visitors with wealth of information and knowledge that can be applied to their own businesses and boost productivity.
PPMA show The annual PPMA show attracts over 8,000 visitors across three days and includes over 350 world-class exhibitors, comprising over 2,500 brands. There will be state-of-the-art products and services on show, as well as product launches and live demonstrations.
Some of this year’s exhibitors include GEA,
Schur Star Systems, Ilpra, Sidel and JBT Proseal. A Unilever professional who attended the PPMA event last year said: “There is a good, wide range of products on show. We came to the show looking for automation partners, which is where our company is headed. We’ve visited the show a number of times and it always delivers good networking opportunities.”
More show highlights The comprehensive seminar programme is one of PPMA’s highlights. It provides visitors with ideal opportunities to top up their industry knowledge and stay informed about latest trends. This year’s keynote speakers include: • Stefan Casey from Nestlé: The digital transformation of FMCG industry – How digital technology is bringing both challenges and opportunities in packaging across the whole value chain; and • Jessica Sansom from Huel: The manifestations of climate change – Rising to the challenge and adapting to a new normal. There will also be a panel discussion by
UK Automation Forum on ‘What would make UK food businesses adopt more robots?’. The panel will consist of representatives from the food industry, who will be discussing the positive impact that adopting automation can have on the sector, whilst sharing top tips and learnings that will ensure successful outcomes. Visitor experience will be further enhanced this year through new features, one of which is the dedicated live demonstration theatre, where exhibitors will take to the stage to launch

new products and services. Another new feature is the show’s daily tour for visitors who may be new to the industry. This is designed to increase their understanding about the use of various machinery and what would be suitable for their business.
Opportunities at the event This year will also see the introduction of icons that will help to easily identify what sectors the exhibitors specialise in. Automate UK will soon be launching an app, too, to further enhance the visitors
a wide range of functions, like content capture through QR codes on the exhibitors’ stands, to gain information about the company’s products and services. There will also be a networking reception, which will take place at the end of the excellent opportunity for exhibitors and visitors to connect, but in a more informal setting, with food and drinks available, as well as a live performance from the Soul Brothers. It’ll be the perfect way to wind down after a busy day at the show. Discover more by going to:
