VARIABLE SPEED DRIVE KIT DEDICATED TO PHOTOVOLTAIC APPLICATIONS


WEG has unveiled a new optional kit for its CFW500 series of variable speed drives (VSDs) that facilitates pump motor control through photovoltaic (PV)


solar cells. The CFW500 Solar Drive comprises a plug-in module to simplify set up and installation. WEG’s compact, energy-saving CFW500 Solar Drive is suitable for the control of centrifugal and submersible motor pumps installed in places where the power grid is unavailable or unreliable. The CFW500 Solar Drive works by


converting the DC feed from PV panels, into AC that is able to serve and control the motor pump. Importantly, the new kit has a function which provides automatic start/stop according to the available solar energy.

New Genie Nano-5G GigE Vision cameras from Teledyne DALSA provide faster data transfer


capabilities using industry-standard Ethernet technology. With data transfer rates in excess of 5Gb/s possible over cable lengths up to 100 metres, and a choice of high performance Sony sensors, these new cameras open up a host of new applications in a wide range of industries. The new 5GBASE-T interface brings significant benefits. Cameras can slot directly into existing GigE Vision systems since 5GBASE-T technology allows Ethernet links to offer data rates of up to 5Gbps over commonly used Cat5e cables. The standard provides faster frame rates - equivalent to 585MB/s, with a further increase in bandwidth to 985 MB/sec using Teledyne DALSA’s TurboDrive technology. This compares to bandwidths of 360 to 400MB/s for USB3 Vision. The inclusion of TurboDrive means that the cameras can operate at data rates approaching 10 GigE Vision. They are compact and lightweight with a footprint of just 59 x 44 x 32mm in a robust metal body. The Genie Nano 5G can operate burst mode, sequencing at the fastest capabilities of the latest generation of sensors, and can operate from -20 to 65° for imaging in harsh environments.

Siemens has launched a brand- new converter series. The


converters of the new Sinamics G120X series are optimised for use


in pump, fan and HVAC applications in infrastructure markets and industries. With a power range of 0.75 to 630kW, Sinamics G120X converters can be operated with any motor. The converters are at their most effective running with synchronous reluctance motors from Siemens. The converters enable motor cable lengths of up to 150 metres. The integrated safety functions are certified to SIL3.

EAO has introduced a new family of emergency stop (E-Stop) and stop switches particularly suited for use in handheld and compact control applications where mechanical, electrical and environmental performance has to go hand-in-hand with severely restricted panel depth. EAO’s Series 84 switches are 13.5mm deep, including cable connections. Installed directly on to a panel, or in a handheld control unit,


EAO Series 84 switches protect humans and machinery from damage. The actuation status of the switch is visible thanks to the green or black indicator ring. LED illumination provides greater visibility and location guidance even in ambient light conditions.
