Multi-aperture batch bread inspections boost efficiency
Bread remains one of the UK's favourite foods, with 99.8 per cent of households buying the equivalent of nearly 11 million loaves each day. With large bakeries accounting for 85 per cent of UK bread production, switching from a single conveyor metal detector to a multi-lane, multi-aperture system that allows operatives to run different product batches side-by-side, can boost efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership
A twin-lane twin-aperture Fortress metal detector is inspecting 14,000 fresh loaves per shift
The smaller, dedicated aperture boosts metal detection sensitivity

To reduce product effect, the bread loaves are inspected individually after rotating around the expansive cooling tower and before packaging
Having a lockable BRC-approved reject bin for each lane helps to reduce false rejects and waste
With one control panel, operators can view comparative performance and reject data side-by-side
