S
outhern Manufacturing & Electronics is the most comprehensive annual industrial trade fair in the UK and a major pan-European showcase for cutting-edge manufacturing technology, supporting products, and subcontracting services. Inaugurated in 1997 as a small, regional gathering of engineering companies, it moved to its present location in 2008, and this year has more than 500 stands booked exhibitors from all over the world. An event important enough to interest big- name manufacturers and suppliers, Southern is equally accessible to engineering SMEs and smaller vendors, as the organisers operate a policy of open access that discourages larger of companies creates a vibrant atmosphere the high rate of return bookings, many participants having supported the exhibition since the very beginning. between companies operating in mechanical engineering and others in the electrical/ electronic sector, an established format that the new show owner, Easyfairs, intends to continue. Although the technologies and industries covered are diverse, there are no barriers between the various areas, allowing people to move freely between stands and perhaps discover products and services they speeding progress around the aisles. It is a must-attend event for anyone involved in design, production, procurement, management or training. With so many companies operating at the forefront of technology and innovating across a multitude of sectors, the show is an ideal venue for researching what is currently available and addressing multiple

It is the place to source mechanical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components and assemblies, IC and PCB manufacturing equipment and services, box build through to full EMS, controls, HMIs, cables, mechatronics, plastic injection and rubber mouldings, connectors, sensors, drives, encoders, fasteners, pressings, wire forms, springs, gaskets and more.
All the latest in machine tools, tooling, workholding and other production hardware will be prominent, as well as test, measurement, inspection and metrology equipment, and other technologies serving a wide range of industries including aerospace/defence, automotive, packaging, handling, logistics, energy, marine, medical/ pharmaceutical, mechanical engineering, and metal processing. Additive manufacturing continues its progress to becoming a mainstream production technique and there will up to date information on build techniques and materials.

a battle to recover from material shortages, high energy costs and increased taxation. Not surprisingly, therefore, economical manufacturing will be a theme throughout digitalisation, and on autonomous handling such as robot and cobot machine tending. Improved technologies in green energy and power-saving machinery, plus renewed interest in the reshoring of production, will also be evident around the hall. Alongside the exhibition and demonstration areas, there will be comprehensive programmes of free technical seminars, one supporting the mechanical side of the show and the other electronics. valuable learning opportunities. All sessions will be CPD-approved to ensure they meet Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits (IPC) hand soldering competition returns in 2025, as does AutoAero, a theme throughout the hall devoted to automotive and aerospace engineering. Southern Manufacturing & Electronics is well served by road and public transport links. A regular, complimentary bus service runs between Farnborough’s Main and North Camp railway stations and the showground. Admission and parking are also free of charge. Register here: https://
