Pressure sensor with low power consumption suits mobile equipment: Variohm expands pressu re sensor range with low power series

The Filter Press Co. Ltd

he filter Press Co. Ltd has been in business for quite a few years, working in the effluent & waste-Water Treatment, Food & Beverage, Petro-Chemicals industries, supplying new and fully refurbished equipment for various processes, also breakdown repairs, planned maintenance contracts, consultation, upgrades & Installations. We recently completed a full ‘turn-key’ project of a 1,000 ltr Solids Capacity Chamber Filter Press, as pictured above. This included the initial consultation, sample test- ing, particle analysis, to determine the requirements, auto- matic control system, hydraulics, process pumps, tank level monitoring and installation.

T

We supply filtration systems in all sizes and configura- tion, including Chamber Plate & Frame, Membrane, Dissolved Air Floatation ‘DAF Systems, and 316 St/St ‘Leak Free’ Filter Presses for the Wine & Beverage, Chemical and Pharma industries.

We can also supply all types of Filtration & Separation equipment for all types of ind ustries, including Basket, Decanter and Disc Stack Centrifuges, Nutsche Pressure Filters, Filter presses, DAF systems and Filter Bag Equipment.

wireless transmitting systems. Aimed at remote pressure monitoring tasks on agricultural machinery, heavy construction equipment and similar demanding applications, the sensor’s supply voltage is 3 or 5 VDC and current consumption is just 6 mA with more than twenty pressure range variants from 0.6 to 5000 bar in gauge or vacuum units.

Based on Variohm’s well proven EPT3100 series pressure sensors with an innovative low power consumption piezo resistive sensing element and ASIC circuitry, the EPT31LE features impressive accuracy, non-linearity and stability specifications with safety secured through generous over range and burst pressure ratings. The compact sensor is based on mm diameter 304 stainless steel housing with a 2 AF Hex fixing. Stainless steel wetted parts up to 2000 bar, and titanium wetted parts for all pressure ranges assure durability for the most common hydraulic d liquid mediums. Measuring medium

Lascar provides a low-cost temperature monitoring solution toWashingtonwinery with USB Data Loggers

C

omplex grape vine weather conditions had been affecting quality and yield in a Washington vineyard. To protect the future of the vineyard, growers planned to conduct a study over a 7 month period that involved wrapping plastic covers around their grapevines to record the effects and differences from the covered and uncovered grapes.

Lascar provided a cost-effective, highly reliable solution with their EL-USB-1 Te Temperature Data Loggers. Lascar

also provided two protective shields and protective caps to defend the loggers against moisture to an IP67 standard. EL-USB-1

Lascars EL-USB-1 measures temperature within a -35°C to +80°C range and can hold more than 16,000 readings. Once set-up, in Lascar’s free EasyLog software, the device will notify the user via its pre-programmed alarms if the temperature has been breached through its flashing LEDs. The study

Using the EasyLog software installation was easy. The software allows the user to configure their own sample rates which can be set to every 10s, 1m, 5m, 30m, 1hr, 6hrs or 12hrs. Once these had been set and configuration completed, the EL-USB-1 was ready to go, set to record every 30 minutes for the following 7 months . The results

Once all the data has been recoded, the data can be downloaded via the EasyLog software for analysis. In the software they were also able to view, graph, analyse and send on all the data collected on the built-in software. The EL-USB-1 was a low-cost, easy to use, no maintenance needed option but also provided a full start to finish data logging solution. The winery felt that the setup and data collection were both simple and reliable and felt that the logger met all of the study’s requirements.

Riello Premix Burners Improve Heating Perfo formance

at Prestigious S cottish Sit e burner upgrade project at a prestigious visitor

attraction in Edinburgh involved the replacement of the existing 25-year-old burners with Riello ultra-low nitrogen oxides (NOx) premix burners.

The Riello RX1800 1.8MW premix burners, commissioned by contractor T-Squared, have shown exceptionally low NOx levels of just 9-10ppm (around 20mg/kWh) throughout the modulation range. This is around half the 40mg/kWh maximum required by some local authorities and also below the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) criteria of 24mg/kWh. Consequently, the burner upgrade enabled the aging cast-iron sectional boilers to comply with current and anticipated NOx regulations, as well as improve energy efficiency – thereby extending the life of the boilers.
