NEWS KEEPING TRACK OF STOCK LEVELS A
t Döhler, a leading manufacturer of semi-finished products for the beverage industry, it had been difficult to keep track of stock levels. The plant in Oosterhout, with its 105 storage tanks, previously relied
on manual measurements, which was time-consuming, error-prone and often inaccurate. Today, things are different: With radar level sensors from VEGA, Döhler now has reliable real-time data at all times – and benefits greatly from time and cost savings.
VEGAPULS C 23 and VEGAPULS 31 sensors deliver accurate level data – available at any time, without employees having to check the tanks manually. This ensures:
• Fewer planning errors • More efficient use of tank trucks • Avoidance of overfilling and material waste • A smoother production process The sensors are maintenance-free, Bluetooth-enabled and designed for long-term use. VEGA has also provided training for Döhler employees, to help them make the most of the new technology.
The solution is scalable – all 105 tanks can be equipped with the sensors. Read more about how VEGA helped Döhler save time and money with real- time insight into stock levels on the company’s blog.

NEW ICHEME PRESIDENT LOOKS TO THE FUTURE
he Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has welcomed Dr Ollie Folayan MBE as its 85th President, succeeding Professor Raffaella Ocone.
Currently Head of Process Engineering at Costain, Dr Folayan has more than two decades of experience spanning traditional energy industries and emerging low-carbon technologies including hydrogen and carbon capture. He assumes the presidency at a pivotal time for the profession, with chemical
engineers fundamental to key challenges and developments, including decarbonisation, artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing. Dr Folayan said his presidency would focus on the IChemE helping
the profession adapt to rapid industrial and technological change while reinforcing chemical engineering’s central role in the energy transition. He described the path to net zero as a “patchwork rug” of solutions spanning emissions reduction, process efficiency, hydrogen and carbon capture, adding that chemical engineers would remain essential to delivering sustainable industrial progress. “Chemical engineers possess an extraordinary ability to affect the lives of others, and with that comes a responsibility to ensure innovation is guided by societal and ethical awareness,” said Dr Folayan. “Our success as a profession depends on our ability to adapt to emerging technologies while communicating our impact more meaningfully with wider society,” he added. Yvonne Baker OBE, Chief Executive of IChemE, said: “Dr Folayan brings extensive experience across both traditional energy sectors and emerging low-carbon technologies, alongside a strong commitment to inclusion, professional development and the future of engineering. His leadership comes at an important time for both the profession and the industries it supports.”

ESS Expo 2026 is expected to welcome over 16,000 professionals
from across a range of environmental and sustainability sectors. The event brings together a wide-ranging programme of speaker sessions, supplier exhibitions, policy-led debate, and networking opportunities - making it an essential gathering point for the environmental sector each year. ESS Expo unites seven co-located sector-specific shows in one place, enabling attendees to explore developments, policy trends, and technical solutions across the full breadth of the environmental industry with one free ticket: • RWM Expo – Resource & Waste Management • EFD Expo – Energy, Fuels & Decarbonisation • CLR Expo – Contamination & Land Remediation • WWEM Expo – Water, Wastewater & Environmental Management
• AQE Expo – Air Quality & Emissions
• GEO Expo – Geotechnical Engineering & Operations • CARS & MRE – Complete Auto Recycling Show & Metals Recycling Event Subject areas span air quality and carbon capture to waste
processing, land remediation, recycling, net-zero strategy, and circular economy legislation, positioning ESS Expo as the most complete cross-sector environmental platform in the UK. ESS Expo 2026 will host more than 700 exhibitors across the seven shows. The two-day conference programme will feature speakers
from across UK and European government, regulatory bodies, and industry. Alongside the core expo programme, ESS Expo 2026 introduces several new features for attendees and exhibitors alike: • ESS Expo Careers Fair
• Start-up, Scale-up & Investors Network • RWM Connect • The EMMA Awards 2026 • Waste Trucks Live • The Environment 100 • The 35 under 35 Awards, sponsored by Grundon Waste Management The full programme, speaker announcements, and exhibitor listings will be confirmed in the coming months.
