MAINSTREAMING ADOPTION OF WIRELESS MOBILE CHARGING R
enesas Electronics Corporation has expanded its work with
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. to include 30W wireless charging capabilities for mid-range smartphones powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G 5G Mobile Platform. This is the second high-power wireless charging smartphone reference design collaboration for the two companies. The first solution, designed for flagship devices, is sampling
commercially now. This latest phase will aim to bring highly integrated, advanced wireless power features as a standard feature in 5G smartphones. Qualcomm Technologies’ 5G
mobile reference designs are intended to help implement fast wireless charging, with Multi-Time Programmability (MTP) and OTA updates to simplify software development and Qi certification process. The Renesas solution offers
high integration with over 85% end-to-end system efficiency to help expand the reach of wireless power technology to an even broader set of customers and simplify the process of adding wireless charging. The Renesas P9412 wireless
power receiver has a high voltage integrated capacitor divider, offering power efficiency with 40-percent reduction in solution size.

INTELLICONNECT IN TOP 25% OF RESPONDERS TO ONS SURVEY
Intelliconnect (Europe) Ltd. has participated in the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) Management and Expectations Survey (MES) 2020. Overall Intelliconnect’s management practices scored 0.84 on a scale from 0 to 1, compared to an average score of 0.60 across Great Britain. This places Intelliconnect in the top 25% of respondents. This is the largest ever survey of UK business management
capabilities, executed on a population of 25,000 companies across industries, regions, firm sizes and ages, documenting the variable quality of management practices. Intended to help UK business’ get through the impact of the current economic uncertainty the survey notes that, in the UK and internationally, firms with higher management practice scores on average tend
to have higher productivity and profits. The overall management practices score takes into account
all the different tools and practices used to run a particular business, over four categories: continuous improvement, KPIs, targets and employment practices. Intelliconnect have a policy of continuous improvement in
working practices and during 2020 achieved accreditation to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, adding to their existing ISO 9001:2015 quality standard and SC21 Silver performance standard for the Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space Industry Supply Chain Programme. Intelliconnect are also members of the Living Wage Foundation.

internal losses and allow the i7A to operate in ambient temperatures of - 40°C to 125°C, even with low airflow conditions. The i7A’s design provides a low output ripple and excellent response to dynamic loads. TDK Corporation’s 750W rated TDK- Lambda i7A series of non-isolated buck DC-DC converters are packaged in a 1/16th brick footprint. The output voltage of these 24V nominal input step-down converters can be adjusted from 3.3V to 18V with a maximum current of 45A. The i7A models can be used to derive
additional high-power outputs from a 24Vdc power supply, at a lower cost and higher efficiency than isolated DC-DC converters. These products are suited for use in robotics, drones, medical, industrial, test, measurement and portable battery-powered equipment.

configurations are available, measuring just 34mm wide and 36.8mm in length. The 11.5mm high open-frame model is suitable for applications requiring a low profile. The baseplate version can be conduction-cooled to a cold plate and is 12.7mm high. Models with an integral heatsink, which are for convection or forced air cooling, are 24.9mm high. The i7A standard features include
output voltage adjustment, + remote sense, remote on-off (positive or negative logic available), input under- voltage, over-current and over- temperature protection.

Panasonic’s latest “Flat Square Type” is an evolution of its PaPIRs motion sensor, with a flat and square 9.6mm x 9.6 mm lens that hides the typical motion detector look. It extends the PaPIRs families EKMC (170µA) for battery-free and EKMB (1µA, 2µA and 6µA) for battery-operated devices. Mounted on walls, ceilings or corners with a typical detection distance of 5m, the digital versions have preset switching thresholds and are temperature compensated.
